Bounty Hunters

An idea for a second payable faction

Though this is basically taking an idea from StarHunter 2300, I think it would be interesting if there were bounty hunters to help as a payable defense. They could cost less than the pirates and be on call rather than on a ten minute time limit. They wouldn't have as large a fleet as the pirates, but perhaps they could have more diversity in fleet depending on affordibility. Such as the least expensive bounty hunters would have frigates, more expensive would have crusiers, and the most expensive would have capital ships. Perhaps bounty hunters would be the wrong word, but basically these would be mercenary defenders, perhaps at a lower cost than buying the actual ships though these would only be in service for a limited amount of time.

Well, technically speaking the Tec race already has them...but you need like level teir 8 to research them

Where? I play TEC and never had some Mercenary force magically come to my rescue.

It is called Insurgence or something similar.  Every few minutes or so it causes a couple ships to spawn in an enemy grav well, the amount of ships is pretty pathetic.

I thought that you wouldn't get the pirates unless you have a good amount of culture influence on that planet

Yes, that causes a few number of rebels to happen upon enemy gravity wells, like said above it is a whimpy number of pirates sent at random basically. Having mercenary defenders is not quite the same as having mercenaries or rebels which go on the offense.

well there's the vasari dark armade tech. i haven't played vasari in a while, i think only once after entrenchment was released, but that spawns ships in your own territory quite frequently. if i remember right.

Returning Armada now requires you to pay a certain amount of resources in order to use it. Each stabilizer can only bring in ships every 15 minutes at level 1 RA, every 10 minutes at level 2 RA.

And also, Returning Armada is limited by your ship cap.  As I understand the original idea, these wouldn't be your ships and therefore wouldn't use up and fleet slots.

yeah as i said, last time i played vasari was a while ago. u didnt hav to pay for returning armada back in those days :P

guess there isn't any tech thats like mercenaries then.
