Creating Ships tutorial

Please can somebody please post a tutorial on how to create new ships using SoftImage?

I barely know where to start with SoftImage and the tutorial that comes with the forge tools doesn't exactly cover anything I need.

So far I have imported a sketchup ship into it to shortcut since i know what i'm doing with sketchup. Textures are my main problem right now, but a proper in depth tutorial for creating ships, giving them colour and the rest of it would be greatly appreciated.

heh importing sketchup files was always a hasle and the textured dont even get me started but Bloodember as a very good link that dandaman as provided it will cover evrything but ill reasure u it will take soome time to get used to xsi but once you good at it youll be making model on the fly in like 1 or 2 hour well for me that is.

another good... program for making ships is wings3D... easy to understand easy to use once you learn what's what in it
