Last person to post wins, unless they are a moderator or admin.

Basically, this game is played so that the last person who post wins. What do they win? The ThreadKiller's Achievement; The honor of being the last person to post by virtue of the content of their post. However, moderators, admins, and anyone else who has the ability to lock the thread are disqualified from winning the ThreadKiller's Achievement, if they win by locking. If the thread is won by method of locking, the "winner" gains the Achievement Of Reprehensible Epic Lameness.

And the unintended consequence of your destruction: creation.

Question: Does Sword of the Stars play more like Sins or GalCiv or Civ?

Looked at some game footage. Dunno. Not bad looking, but it would take me a bit to bother investing in a new game. First, I hate steam. Second, I find Sins, SupCom, etc. very replayable. Third, unless it gave me something really dynamic (I enjoyed the way ships in the Homeworld series moved) I would probably pass on dishing the bucks.

First, here's the demo so you can see for your self. For me, never played a RTS till Sins came along. Sins spoiled me so when I'd played SOTS, was not used to turn based games other than RPG's from early Final Fantasy series. The tech tree is unique in that you won't developed the same tech in back to back games. Also, the game has tankers, so if you run out of fuel, your ships will limp through space for the next hundred years.

The best thing I liked about was the ship damage and customizations that was available to you. When you ship is heavily damaged, it shows, pieces dangling, scorched marks, very nice. Various choices for ship customizations for frigates, cruisers and capitals once you research the tech.

IMO, it's a good game but like I said, sins spoiled me and that's I fully could not get into it. Otherwise, when part 2 comes out, will check it out and see what the changed and may pick it up if it is like sins.....Bison...

Sins is the only permitted game.

All other games will be soon assimilated or destroyed...

First: Hate Steam? Buy it off of Impulse. I did.

Second: Sword of the Stars is very replayable. Especially with a randomized tech tree.

Third: Umm.....More along the lines of Sins.

Dunno... turn based is an either/or, but there have to be some good things to manage if I'm going to bother with the slow down that produces. Hate the Civ games. Loved the Total War games.

As for live battles. I dunno. I might play with the demo sometime. Like I said, I have a lot of replayable games and I barely have time to make any of them count. I dunno. I might just never get around to it. Big loss, huh?

Its closer to Total War.

And no, to the making of many video games there is no end, and devotion to them is worrisome to the flesh.

One more thing about SOTS, and this caught me off guard was that only one research at a time can be done. I'm so used to have multiple research techs being developed at the same time, one being done over x amount turns was killing me. Sins got me spoiled...

True, but you had to make a much more strategic choices there. Power up to Dreadnoughts with basic Mass Drivers and Missiles? Or stay with Cruisers and Battle Beams.

I'm used to the one at a time research from games like Ascendancy and Hegemonia.  I actually kind of prefer it.

They both have their high points. The multi-research the sins offers is nice but you had better have the money so you had better consider if you have the funds or not. The singleton research is a bit easier on the pocketbook but slower and forces you to think about which direction you want to go.

Then there's Total War where you just have to have the structures, but that requires you have the money to build up things in multiple towns, have the towns located where you can make good use of them, and then you have to build the units. No field upgrades there!
