That aside, the pirates are crap if they can't get tough late game. Given the AI usage of vessels against starbases, you either make em tough or they become pointless. I give Ryat props though for making them strong via a tech tree as well as numbers. Predictability goes out the window then.

Nice... But you need ninja assasins or admin powers to fully get rid of me. And in my opinion, since licifer is merely a fallen angel, he does not count as a god, even if he has godlike powers.

The pirates are very difficult to deal with 5 hours inwhen playing on a big map since they can strike anywhere and will eat anything other than a fully upgraded starbase for breakfast. On big maps it takes far too long to respond effectivley to attacks. Seriously, i believe the pirates get way too much research buffing. Level 1 pirate desolators with 350 missle damage? Too far. I think it would be more fun to just put a slightly increased number of ships in the raids than to increase damage, health etc. Make no mistake, i love the pirates the way they are but i believe more ships is preferable over runaway buffing. We're not arguing. We like input. I like them as they are, but some like them harder and some easier. At the same time, every patch has a lot of little effects. We've had a few issues since they changed how the pirates calculate out their strength, typically making the first wave unholy hell.

yeah, but now you can fight off the first wave with 3 gauss turrets and a pair of light frigates to take out their lrm

they usually just send out a dunov battlecruiser with a corsair and a reaper for support.

(sorry about that, the frigates are for hunting that shy reaper, not a LRM.  I was distracted and possibly high)

And as for the Pirates, yeah Diplomacy 1.34 borked the pirates. I fixed them as best as I could but I was limited.
