Victory Celebration video needed

It's such a long road to victory, I want some sort of celebration beyond the plain vanilla victory screen.  Fleet fireworks, an entire solar empire celebrating by firing lasers into space, anything to mark the achievement in a fun but spectacular manner.

A nice celebration vid would be nice for future releases.

The victory screen does seem a little anti-climactic, doesn't it?  Maybe they could add a rapid game replay that would just show the entire map with shading to indicate the different empires' territory, showing how it was gained and lost throughout the game (similar to what Civlization and Alpha Centauri have at the end).  It would probably be a lot of work to program that, though.  Perhaps that would be a good mini-project for Sins-2.

I always loved that mini-replay at the end of a nice long game of Alpha Centauri, but I don't think the same would work well in Sins.  In AC, there was lots of territory, many small victories and constantly changing empires.  In Sins, there is much less "territory" in that there are only a few worlds to conquer.  I would imagine the replay would just show the "hotspot" worlds change owners a few times until the line breaks and everything gets taken over.

Yeah I would like a different end screen. Maybe something in a similar style of the opening cut-scene that is race specific. Animated drawn stills with a short narrative specific to whatever faction you were playing as. Ex after TEC victory: Still shots of cities celebrating with fireworks, large numbers of TEC ships in formation, etc with a short narrative saying how the TEC have finally pushed back the invaders and so on so forth.

Hmm, since every micro-expansion furthers the timeline my idea would probably have to wait until the last micro-expansion. We have no idea what the plot will be for Sins 2 other than the fact that the TEC, Advent, and Vasari will probably be fighting each other again. Whether the war will be a new one or the same war. If it is a different war, then the narrative idea about how your faction has won and such would work, but if not then it would have to be worked with to fit plot. Argh, I need to stop thinking about this. I'm just digging myself into a hole.

I guess what my opinion comes down to is that yes I think the ending needs to be something other than the screen we have now.

Well your idea would work Jetheren but just keep it from summing it up as if it was the whole war, Something like "Weve fought hard and long, lost many of our brothers and sisters in the name of liberation from these intruders, tyrants and slavers, but our victory is short lived as we have only pushed them from this sector and now have to send our surviving brave troops to the next to face an uncertian future. May our Victory here be the beginning of triumph over our mortal enemies!"

Just show some scenes of TEC troops parading through a Terran city, fireworks, and the Fleets being repaired at the repair bays, and then finally show the TEC troops boarding troop transporsts while people wave goodbye and then finally the Fleets in mid phase jump towards the new frontline.

Well, these are all pretty good ideas. But I think they should run the credits and show close-ups of your enemy's capital ships being attacked and exploding with cool, dramatic camera movement and freeze-frames. And of course, it would all be to rockin' techno music to give you some relief from all that classical type music you choked down for many, many hours.

Actually, any actual video would be pretty nice, instead of all the stills

Yes, an simple end video of, for instance, the victorious fleet being recieved with fireworks!

Even something like the short clips you get when you win GalCiv2 would be nice.

Maybe if/when Sins 2 comes out it will be w/ videos

Videos do sound cool. A time lapse of your color & symbol over planets, with the possiblity of fleet circles roaming the map sounds awesome, and could help to quickly identify how your enemy(s) could have fallen or won.

Or a cool video would be your nukes raining down on the enemy capital with civilians running in terror

End of KronRefugee's quote

People walking down a bustling street, minding their own business.....then suddenly shadows block out the sun. People look up, point, scream, start running, shoving, pushing in all directions. While all this is going on a whistle noise is slowly growing louder and the shadows are growing bigger, and then something hits the ground incredibly fast and a bright white light fills the screen, and VICTORIOUS! slowly fades in above the white screen, then followed by your stats.

THAT WOULD BE INCREDIBLE!

that could also work as the defeated video. either or.

the thing is with videos is that they need to be in high quality and they would need to do a video for each tech character to each psi character to each phase character, and that is just the single player, they will need to do a combo for each possibility and do it in maya, that video is probably going to be huge, add another 3-4gb of harddrive space

do any of you know how hard is to model in maya, then texture and then animate it in maya or the amount of  rendering time it will need just to create a decent 3D video of each condition of victory and defeat

and given the size of Ironclad, I doubt would do it, now if we were to pay another $20 they might

I have acutally done modelling and texture and then render a simple mail box in maya and it took me at least 3 hr just to texture a decent scene alone... so I really doubt they would do it

this is a simple sofa with walls I did in Maya, sofa modeling, 5hr, texturing 4 hr, lighting, .5 hr, and this is for a single frame render time: 3 minutes

I know nothing about modeling and such but I promise you victory/defeat videos will not add 3-4 gb to the game. But I do get ur point, it'd be crazy hard to pull off.

people have made entire movies out of 3d images. Im sure the Devs could do videos, yes its hard. But their getting paid to create something enjoyable.
