LAN only?(From a SOASE NOOB)

am i missing something?

Hi! I am wizlawz, new to the Empire. (have played C&C, C&C Generals online) so i got the jist of this (lol somewhat)

ok so i go in game to multiplayer and all i get is LAN;.. so is that it? gotta go to multiplayer organization(er) thread to get LAN adresses? or rather to schedule a game(as far as i have been able to tell from some reading); it reminds me of somehow trying to get an online game going of commander for PSP.<_<

ok so i dont have entrenchment i just have the reg(?) SOASE v1.116(or 1.16?) whichever one that is.

well; did not know where else to post this so forgive me if it is in the wrong place.:X :blush:

You want to press Iroclad Online for internet multipleyer.  The option you found is for network (offline) MP.

I knew it!  Some people would get confused by the way they named the buttons -- "Multiplayer" (LAN) and "Ironclad Online" (online multiplayer).  Anyway, you want to click on the <Ironclad Online> button.  You then have to register your copy of Sins or at least create an account with ICO and then make a player name (you can have up to 5).

Note that overall player counts are low for this game, but there's still lots of action to have if you log in at the right time and if you have the Entrenchment expansion.  Your best bet for finding games is between 3 pm - 11 pm U.S. Eastern Standard Time and you'll also find more people on the weekends.  Most of the games are played with the Entrenchment expansion, which is where youll find the larger games, such as the 4v4's and 5v5's.  Note that you cannot see Entrenchment games from Regular Sins and vice-versa.

ahh ok great thanks! yep nope i dont have the Entrenchment. But there are still games being run on the SOASE without entrenchment yes? oh and should i get any mods? do they play alot with the mods?

I dont mind the low player count,.. >_> EVE i was basically paying to play solo mostly anyway;: jest did not find the right Corp for me i guess. <_< and X3 Reunion is not online and it gets a lil boring;.....REALLY low player count 8|   but i know a lil bout MODs and Scripts (not making/creating them) as X3 is almost fully MODDED and SCRIPTED DL's anyway these days.

most mods are for entrenchment (it gives us modders some many more toys) so not much hope there (just get entrenchment for another 10 bucks, it is well worth the cost)

not a lot of people play multi with mods, though those of us that use the Distant Stars mod sometimes get a game together so no need to worry too much there

ahhh ok cool. oh yeah i had one more question;.... as i am either blind or just cant find the option to Turn Off AutoSave....it's killing my virtual memory; what memory? who said that? where am i, who are you; what am i doing here?

oh;.. hey if any of you guys want to check this online multiplayer space player:

you guys might enjoy this one as well. yep is FTP. i think IMHO it is pretty hardcore, small player count as well but once in is pretty fast paced. More along the lines of Skirmish so to speak.

quick breakdown of it: there is a real player commander who commands real players. VERY CRITICAL to act as a GROUP and FOLLOW COMMANDS.

uh, I think that when you go to the menu and click save (bringing you to where you can rename your file etc.), there will be a small checked box that says autosave. uncheck it, and that should do it.

if that little box is only a fragment of my imagination, feel free to ignore this post
