Game Runs Slow on Medium Maps

I have a brand new gaming computer, quad core, masive card, blah, blah, blah, maxxed on most everything hardware, and I play BF2 and COD4 with blazing speed.  I can also play Supreme Commander on max with great frame rates, but on a medium map, with only 3 AI players, and only 7 or 8 capital ships and no other fleet, this game slows to a crawl with everythng at lowest effects.  What gives?  I never had any issues on the smaller maps.  How can this game gobble up this much processing power?  Thanks in advance for any help.

I suggest you lock Sins onto one of your four cores and lock other programs onto other cores so that Sins has its own dedicated core to use.

really, I didnt even know that was possible.  Have you seen any improvement with that?  I'll google it and see, funny I have never heard of that before.

Also: what version are you using? entrenchment tends to run better than vanilla... and much better than vanilla 1.05

Something I found that has sped up the game for me considerably is an App called Game Booster. It is put out by the same people who did Advanced System Care. Game Booster shuts down any programs that will lag you with the click of a button. You can find it at MajorGeeks.com. A quick download and really simple interface. Check it out.

thanks for the help.  I have been trying just about everything to get this game running properly, but have had no luck.  it only uses about 25% of my system resources and only about half my ram, if that, and still crawls, no matter what my settings are, it is far worse if I play a saved game.   I think this is just about unfixable.

Game starts to bog down on me as well playing a medium map w/ 3 AI.  I'll try some workarounds mentions and hopefully they'll help.

 

Core 2 Duo 3 GHZ

3 GB DDR2 800mhz RAM

Nvidia GTX 275 OC

Win 7 Profession 64Bit

That's odd...my specs are lower than you guys...yet medium maps seem to go smoothly for me.
