I just got a new computer so now I can finally play this game. I dont have a mouse yet, and apparently you have to have one. can anyone help me? If I could solve this problem I would enjoy multiplayer alot more.

Ah, worry not my dear friend, there are some key bindings that will do the same thing. And in many cases, will actually be faster than the wheel.
The defaults are:
Zoom in-------------------V
Zoom out-----------------B
Instant Zoom Close-------Z
Instant Zoom Medium-----X
Instant Zoom Far---------C
Instant Zoom Context----Caps Lock
Your best friend in this situation is Caps Lock, It's great from going in on the action, telling units what to do, press the same key again and easily go to another planet to build some stuff. Anyways, happing hunting.
Laptops seem to have some sort of problem regarding scroll wheels on mice. I have an HP bluetooth mouse, and I can't use the scroll wheel to zoom in Sins. But if I use my friend's Microsoft wireless USB mouse I can zoom fine. It's really quite wierd. So I use the V and B keys to zoom in+out, like 029er already mentioned.
PS: Why did you post this in the multiplyer section?
I've got an Acer Aspire 5920, and i have the same problem with the built in mouse. Wireless mouse is the best option, i think, because everything is at your fingertips. It's good to know i wasn't the only one though.
Yeah well I was originally looking at multiplayer posts but then I remembered my mouse problem. I guess I got too lazy
I agree with CallenExile, it's nice to know someone else has this problem. I always figured either myself or my laptop was just special. (Short bus special, not precious gem special.)
