Needed Feature -- scuttle planets/capital ships double check.

Today I accidentally scuttled my home terran and was completely unaware of it until I received the message about having lost a planet.  For the next patch, how about a "double check" box where it asks you if you are sure you want to scuttle your planet (at least your home planet) and capital ships to reduce the number of unintended scuttles.

Isn't there usually an audio cue for a scuttling action? There's also a "Scuttle Time Remaining" countdown timer displayed above the image of the object on the centre bottom.

There's a countdown and a status bar for the planet or item being scuttled but you have to know it's being scuttled in order to go look for it.  What I want is something like a dummy checkbox that pops up asking, "Do you really want to scuttle this planet (Y/N)?

My team won that game, btw.  It was wild at the start with my home terran being directly connected to the other guy's home terran.  With the help of a great teammate we knocked him out but after he had quit the game I noticed my home terran was gone!

This really should be enough. Game can't check for all mistakes or it'd be horribly annoying to play. I'd certainly get tired of having to hit another button every time I wanted to do this.

How often do you scuttle a planet or a capital ship, though?  Not very often.  So, I don't think it would hurt anything since these are significant and potentially very detrimental actions.  The developers could even make it an option to allow or disallow the double check boxes.

I think the sound effect, timer and status bar are enough.  Sorry Sanchezz, you just have to pay more attention, especially if your scuttling stuff. ;P

I've never accidentally scuttled anything before, much less a capital ship or planet.  I don't know how you could possibly be so scuttle-happy as to make this mistake.

I wouldn't want this feature because it would get in my way and irritate me.  However, if it was an option to turn on or turn off, that's fine with me.

My only issue with the scuttle button is that it is so small and poorly placed. I frequently have to click again since i managed to hit the HUD picture.

Yeah, don't know how you could hit this by accident.

Perhaps you had setup the hotkey for scuttling and it hit by mistake?

Personally, I think scuttle is too delayed.  I cannot select groups of ships and set their scuttle timing all at once, it forces me to go through one at a time.

I don't know either.  I don't have a single key for scuttling (I removed that keybind) and I never ordered the scuttling of anything, so I would have had to have had the planet selected while accidentally clicking the scuttle button.  One possibility is that it might have been related to a desync.  Supposedly the opponent who's terran I was connected to desynced though I'm not sure I buy that.

I have scuttled my cap on accident before.Have no clue how it happened. The scuttle sound is the same sound as when you cancel something I believe. So you may have thought you canceled something when it is scuttling.

In any circumstance, there is also a message in the Production Reports that says "Unit/Structure will be scuttled in X seconds" although the image associated with a scuttling action is the same as the one associated with a lost capital ship.

ive been building minefields and when i click-drag select the mines in weird places, somtimes i also drag a bit over the planet, which is then selected insted of the mines, i then press the scuttle hotkey and realise that i abandoned a planet by accident
