Well, I'm not sure if this should be here or in the help section of the Windows Vista Site lol
Anyway,
I am having problems running (actually launching) SoaSE. I have had it installed before, and it launched perfectly, and i happily played the night away. But, when i installed the first update for multiplayer, things started going wrong. Whenever i launched it, i got an error message stating that the program failed to initiate, and then the typical "Sins of a Solar Empire has stopped working" came up. so the game closed. I then used the repair function on the setup, and the game worked again. Great. Buuuut, the second time i opened the game, another error campe up and said that "Windows can not access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropiate permissions to access the item." Well, I am the one and only administrator on this computer and I'm "supposed" to have every permission there is. So then i tried to re-install the game again, but then ANOTHER error popped up saying that the launcher didn't have permission to manipulate the files, okaaaay i understand that, but how do i give it permission? how do i give myself permission? I turned off User Account Control but it hasn't helped. I checked the fire-walls, my account type, and I even created a standard account to see if I could launch, reinstall, or repair the game from there. NO LUCK. So what is going on here? Quite frankly, I hate Windows Vista. I shouldn't capitalize the V in Vista. It dosn't deserve it.
If anyone has any ideas about what is happening and/or how i could fix, they would be much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to ready my incredibly long paragraph.
Sincerely,
