The Dark Side Of Sins

Ok recnetly there have been a lot of arguments with me having arguments over other noobs to the game. can i make one thing clear................I NEVER USED TO BE LIKE THIS!

ALL you noobs need to understand, the power of the dark side is strong in sins, I used to be a well mannered and repected sins player until i started to become good at sins. Getting booted from games for not having a good record, getting trash talked by bia, dt players and other skilled players made me play better, and of course beat some of the best.

Thats where I started to turn to the 'dark side', after getting getting trash talked by siddy, howthe, tyr and ascension. I started to beleive that the 'dark side' would be much more fun......................and it was.

a couple of days ago, I saw some of the most friendliest sins players who used to help noobs and even if they lose, never trash talk them have now started to come to the dark side. ALL I AM SAYING IS THIS........once you start to become skilled, 85% will fall to the dark side, and become the biggest dicks in sins of a solar empire.....and well done my comrades.

ALL HAIL HER MAJESTY THE SITH ELIZTHBETH II

do you all agree that once you become skilled, you do turn to the dark side?

Only if you naturally have an arrogance about you, I see it often in art communities... I used to be crap at drawing and get flamed for it. Now that I am "popular" people seem to give me a lot of respect, why ? Because I can draw... Wow. But yeah, I would find it hard to turn to the "dark side" on something as simple as a game like this with such a small community. I mean... FFS if your the best player on the entire sins ICO net, what... You maybe have 5-10 fanboys ? xD

I digress... I would worry to see how you would behave if you became a popular artist, I imagine you may be the "I am a god you are peasents worship me for I have thine skill you lacketh" type personality :P

I'm not good enough to earn any respect in this game. (WHERE'S THE ****ING NUKE BUTTON???????!!?!?!!?)

Online games can be one of the only mediums where you can let out a bit of arrogance , even be a complete bastard and flame newbs.

I mean...try it in your job and you probably get fired/not promoted. Try it with your mates and you probably lose em/or get beaten up. Try it online and Whats the worse that can happen? kicked out of a few games? even then you can still smurf.

Also in real life your measured by your intelligence , your physical appearance , your talents even your beauty. In the gaming world you can really only be measured by your gaming skill , so if you got gaming skill but no real life qualities you can still derive self esteemfrom  being better then other people

Like your suggestion here mate, by the way, the way i act on games is different on how i play sports for example cricket. I am very helpful to people if i am particualr good at that subject. And I was very good at business back at collage, instead of telling people I was GOD blah blah blah, I didnt, I helped people, I beleive if ur good at something, why not share it. Knowledge is wasted when the only person who knows about it is you!

Keep the suggestions flowing, by the way do people know that this is more about the psychology of a person?

The fact that most people got kicked out of games, abursed for being crap or noob players this can affect there psychology by quite alot. The people who  abused me for being a noob, kicked me out of games for being a noob, and got trash talked by those people, that made me want to be better at the game, so that i can kick there ass. and when I did, instead of becoming the same friendly person I was, I changed to be more like them.

The power I possed (even in a game), made me feel that other newer players werent worthy enough.

This comes from a video I watched, If you have 16 ordinary people in a social experiment, 8 prisoners and 8 guards, within a certain amount of time, you fit into those roles, even when it is just an experiment and for example you aint a real prsion guard, you act like one. The power you posse over people makes you feel better then them, even if in real life you aint.

The fact is once you set yourself in the role sins skilled (prision guard) you beleive you have some control and power over other people (played more games, you know more tactics) and the noobs (Prisioners) fit into there role of being afraid to play aginest someone so much more skilled then they are.

This human characteristic is not only in games, but in real life, we live to have power over other people, even if it is a petty thing like a game, or an important part of life. If we beleive we have that power, we will use it.

Dark side no. But I realy dislike people people who don't listen to me when they should. That is my only qualm with soem noobs. Some of teh noobs listen to what they are told and they live throught it and become beter players. I can think of a guy name Whitedragon*andsomenumbers* last night who was noob but listen to what the more skileld players had to say, result he survived the game and we won. He score a win while still beign alive witch he said was a first for him. And that onyl happen because he listened to what teh mroe skileld players had to say and did what they said.

That si why when you joina  skilled game with a noob record you will get kicked, the pros can mroe fo lest talk you throught it if you know the basics, but to few people are willing to listen to comands. Only 10-20% of teh noobs actuly listen to what they are told. so result in a skileld game pros just don't wanna take that gamble.

Atleast nto on their mains were every game they play si talied intot heir reputation regarless they got map fucked or whatever or do not.

How very true, its like that with my art... I do sometimes feel annoyed when people say their art is awesome when its... Well crap, but I do try to restrain myself :P

The role I currently occupy is aspiring artist, as soon as I know someone is a fanboy I already lose respect for them, still... The compliments are nice x3

I agree entirely, apparently a "newbie" is someone who is just new, willing to learn and adapt where as a "noob" is someone who has played for 2-4 months + but refuse to take advice as they feel their method trumps all. I get that a lot when I game, idiots who just won't listen but if you criticise people they either are the type to adapt, change and improve or just get all mardy and have a bit of a fit over it. People ask me what the secret to success is with gaming and drawing and its just to have an open mind, be adaptable and LISTEN to people x3

You and I think alike about the definition of newbie and noob. Better be a newbie then a noob.

I'll add my 2 cents here.  This community is more "noob sensitive" then any other I've seen because of how few people play online.  Other people are hitting on it when they make a difference between being a "Newbie" and a "Noob".  Everyone started out not being that good.  Some people leave games randomly, can't take advice, don't use ally chat after being told several times how to, go AFK during games (5 minutes into a game saying in open chat "don't attack me I've got to go eat dinner"), get mad when a better player beats them but refuses to watch a replay, type everything in caps, constantly ask for a feed and build defenses at their HW even when the enemy fleet has clearly bypassed it and is attacking someone else.  Have I made my point?

That being said, every time when I have seen someone in the lobby saying they are online for the first time and want to play against another newb I have whispered them with the offer to do a comp stomp and give them a few pointers.  Sometimes they listen, sometimes they build a fleet of light frigates, take 2 planets and turtle until I beat my AI and come over and save them.  Sometimes they go AFK like I am doing it for my own personal benefit.  But even with all the wasted time I'll still continue to do it because some people truly are grateful.  Before they were just getting rushed to death and had no idea why, now they realize why all their cobalts die at the first sight of an illum.

As far as the "Dark side", don't be a douche bag.  http://www.twistermc.com/blog/2007/07/03/online/

Looolll i cant belive what i read. Who lied to u u were ever well manered  even for brits standards ??? :D

But u r right, after hudrets of beats from DT,   months of loosing , hours  spend on watching replay over and over ,  when u finaly get a skill to hold on your own, u r too week to resist the dark side.

But in 1 thing u r wrong.  Trash talk a noob isnt fun at all.   At least  if he is a pompatic jerk who knows everything better u can, but most of them rnt.

Its smurfing a skilled or frying a Fox is what makes darks side so fun.

Sorry let me state this in more detail, I dont mean normal noobs, I MEAN THE PROPER JERK ONES! Who start with the atitude first.

and quar, you are right :)
