In-game text ruins my framerate

When ever ther is a display of text in game, like in menus or in tutorials, my fps takes a dive from 60 to below 30.

It's bizzare, but I found similair topics like this one, so I know I'm not alone.

my spec:

Q6600
4gb ram
ATI 4850

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

If anyone knows any solution or has an idea how to solve this, it would be greatly appreciated.
I also emailed to support, but haven't gotten a reply yet.

This is probably a dumb question, but since this probably has supposedly been solved a while ago, have you downloaded the latest version/update? i.e. 1.18 for Sins of a Solar Empire and 1.041 (?) for Entrenchment? It also might be helpful if you let us know if you have only the original game or both it and the microexpansion, Entrenchment.

Ah, right, forgot to mention that. I have both, got them over Impulse so I assumed they're automaticly up to date?

Btw, I have tried changing fonts and that did nothing.
I'm starting to think I wasted my money, I should probably have tried the demo first. But I got it since i  tried it before on geforce 8800 gts 512 and it worked normally, I assumed it would work same or better on 4850, but apperently, I was wrong.

Things like this also don't make me feel better:

P.S.
Is it possible to contact someone from Impulse to , if not return the game, change it for something else of equal value?
Even though I would truly like to resolve this issue.

If you're on a multicore computer, check to make sure that the game is running on a free core and not running on the same core that Windows and your Internet browser is running on.  This is probably especially important when you have a multi-core CPU where the speed of each core isn't really high.  I suggest clearing all programs off of one of the cores and setting Sins to that core and giving it a high priority.
