The Green Star has Murdered the White Dwarf!?

I just want to know why...

As the title suggests, and I am sure this has been asked constantly; yet the search function for this forum is a bit cumbersome to find what I am looking for...

So all I ask is this: Why a green star? Does one exist in real life? and why did the green star kill the white dwarf? XO

Its just been one of those things that bugs me everytime I load a map... be cool if a Developer would chime in, I'd really like to know their reasoning. Just out of pure curiosity. ^_^'

Alls I can say is

"Why not and because it was in the way"

A green star COULD Exist - Can't prove anything DOESN'T Exist. (Darn you, Universal Negative. #:( )

And Why did it kill the white dwarf? Because.

As Captain Kirk Knows, Green is Better than Vanilla. :D

For the scientifically curious, here's a good explanation on the phenomenom of green stars (or rather the lack thereof): http://www.astronomycafe.net/qadir/q72.html

My take, they've always been there but Vasaari, Advent, and Human eyes just work differently ;)

well, thinking about it logically, green is a very hard colour to create in natural flame... i mean, of all the star types we know of, they have the colours of the different levels of flame on earth (red, orange, yellow, white, blue).

in order to create a green flame you need to add a chemical or ink or some other artificial additive to create green flame (did it on a school cadets camp once, got bored on picket duty so started burning stuff out of my ration pack =P)

so... its entirely possible to have a green star if you add enough ink to it i suppose... =P

also, something to note: has anyone read Day of the Triffids? i forget who wrote it, but its about how the earth goes blind because of a green meteor shower in the atmosphre of earth destroyed the vision of everyone who watched it as the eye is particularly sensitive to green light.

so! if we ever did find a green star, bring your sunglasses =P

EDIT: also, excuse my ignorance, but whats all this about a green star killing a white dwarf? is it some racial joke i missed or what?

John Wyndham wrote Day of the Triffids.  I was however under the impression that the green light was from an orbital weapon of some sort that was damaged by a meteorite (or at least that's what the author speculated) and that was what damaged people's eyes, rather than the light itself.  Sure, it was six years before anything went into space like that (Sputnik 1) but the V2 weapons would probably be fresh in many people's minds.

And same question, what's the joke with the green star and white dwarf?

Outstanding B&W Sci Fi!  And are we really talking about why the devs made a green star!?!?  It's simple; IT LOOKS COOL!
