Custom Faction Colors?

Is it possible to have custom faction colors? Or even insignias? I've always wanted to have a mix between the light and dark blues they have available...

with a mod, yes this is possible. It would probably require editing of several texture files and/or the brush files&brush.manifest file.

How difficult would it be?

the insignias are fairly easy as the insignias are all in the racelogo.tga file with the smaller 3 sizes being hidden in the alpha channel only, and the new reacelogo.tga will need to be placed in the mods textures folder. no idea on the colours

I used Photoshop to edit the race logos as Harpo mentioned ... it's  very easy ... once you know how:)

RGB layer

Alpha layer

As for colours ... you can change the hue for the largest icon (light/dark grey tones) but for the smaller ones ... not sure ... am experimenting and will let you know if anything comes of it.

And thanks Harpo for your previous advice on the other thread!

So ... yes you can colour the logos  ... but remember the colour you choose for a faction can overide the colours you put in the .tga file ...

1 - colours added only work with that colour (light purple)

2 - original colour for the star was yellow (tga) but after choosing a lightblue faction ingame ... the yellow star became green ... so you will need to bear that in mind when adding colours to the logos ...

Very cool!

Wait, so you can only mod light purple?

restlessmind, if you add colours to a logo, the colour is treated as a filter and will distort based upon the colour chosen for the player eg if you put yellow in the logo, and choose red as the player then it will go orange, if you chose light blue it will go green, etc.

There is a way to make custom colors, besides coloring the logos.  In the Window folder, there's a Color.color file.  Open it with a text editor like any other, and you'll see a big list of options and color codes next to them.  You'll want to look specifically at all the playerColor:# entries.  Just change the values after the ff in each to whatever color code you desire, and you'll change the selectable colors accordingly.

Yeah that color file will change all the colors for that race...the icon the color on the ships. I have white and black colors over here....While the icons are useless lol when you use black, but the ships look cool all decked with black parts instead of pink!
