I want to present you the modification of SOA2.
First of all thanks to SOA2Team for this very nice work and star trek feelling.
Cause I wanted to play it in a different way I made this modificatiion. But most of hard work belongs still SOA2 Team.
This mod is compatibel with Rebellion 1.52. You can update also your planets with industry and social specialisation.
Changes to original SOA2:
First of all I wanted to fight also against other races and not only against borg. That is also why I tried to keep balance between races that all of them have a chance to expand their empire.
- AI increased for all races. Before AI didn't build any capital ships for Kiingons, Federation, Dominion and Romulan. They were researching only maxshipslots but not caputalships and were building frigates. Only borg could build their capital ships but not the other races. To see all races fight with capital ships I changed AI.
- I changed assimilation of borg. Borg were taking control of nearly all frigates and other NPC s couldn't expand any. Borg now only can assimilate when shields are down. Lower your shields and surrender . But without lowering shields they cannot assimilate. Only tractorbeamassimilation with eliteships can assimilate other ships even eliteships. But this was enough to give other races a chance to start normal.
- Borg combatlab had 12 civil slots. This was for borg impossible to expand. Cause of this you could see alot of money and resources sometimes > 100 000 but they couldn't use it. I changed that to 4 civil slots that they could build their culturecenters and combatlabs.
This makes Borg again hard cause they can get researches faster now.
Borg had also too much armor, that you couldn't fight with your eliteships just heavy frigate of borg. It was impossible to kill them. I reduced armor to an acceptable level. I gave also to all races weapons against borg. Borgvirus can use 1 support vessel and is more efficient against them. Also support capital ship got assimilation counter.
I also changed tractor beams a little to keep the balance.
- I changed the roles of Federation ships. Intrepid is longrange, defiant not capital ship anymore but very important to fight agains borg, Akira became support capitalship, exselsior carrier, centaur became shield restore and repairing, etc.
- I gave 1 homehangar with special fighters to defend homeland. Roletype is superweapon but it is not so hard. Just help at beginning not to be crashed fast. For all 3 planets you have you can get 1.
Take a look at your tactical buildings.
- starbases can move now only not that from borg. I changed this cause AI cannot put the starbase to a correct place. It stays sometimes too stupid that you can get the planet very easy. Starbase of borg cannot assimilate eliteships anymore. This was too hard.
- I put some new pictures and music.
- Move of starships changed as mentioned before.
This mod I made to have a balance between the races and not only to play against borg. I tried to make it most realistic and took informations when I was making this mod about races and starships in internet.
Even with new changes borg can be OP again especially when they can assimilate eliteships of other races at the beginning. When they cannot get them you could see a normal enemy during the game.
Are you ready for a war?
Just overwrite the old SOA2.6R files with SOA2 mod. Extract them to the main folder. You can take the original one if you don't want to keep it.
