The thing is then SoA 2 would become a race to whoever builds the first "ubership" wins. Basically the same as Sins or Total Annihilation (if you remember the Krogoths).
Then we have the issue now of where we can make SoA 2 an actual "Trek Mod". Not just Trek Ships inside of the Sins engine. For example many of the hard code limitations have been lifted over the years. Before in the early builds we had to make ships behave almost exactly like the Original Sins ships they replaced. We no longer have to do that.
Basically now we do not have to follow the "Sins" pattern any more. We do not "need" titans. I seen good ideas about "hero" ships. However that is what the "elite" units are. Hero ships.
It is interesting that when the early builds of SoA 2 came out most complained that it played "too much like sins". Now we have the opposite.
I agree that adding titans to SOA2 would crash the balance which makes the gameplay to create the first titan to beat others and I hate this. That is why I made hero ships not powerfull that they will crash the balance of game. There are just unique ships with leaders of the empires or special individuals. Like Borg Queen. This model I used for hero ship and when you will see it it will be the queen whit her original voice. The same for other hero ships.
It will never play like sins.
In SOA2 Dominion empire is the weakest. But as you know all Alpha quadrant belongs Dominion and if they would be so weak they woould never be able to bring order to Alpha quadrant. That is why I changed also the balance to make Dominion as powerfull as Borg. I put also voices to Dominion race and new models. There is no sin model anymore all original stations for each race.
The same for npc's. For example is for sona starships you can find real sona ships not sin models anymore.
There is also new option came with version 1.80 "isMadVasariPlayer". When you make npcs ismadVasariPlayer they will travel through the galaxis and attack ships. This option I took to make NPCs like pirates travel around galaxis and making troubles, stealing recources. I add andorian and other races also vulcan who will protect their homeland.
I changed also mechanics. Polaron beams which will penetrate shields, ablativ armor which protects hull without regenaration and cloaking device which will be used before getting destroyes. That ships can escape from fight unseen. All weapons and powers from star trek movies nothing to do with sins. You can take a look how it plays if I will be ready with it.
