Odd graphics problem

losing part of the UI

I just reinstalled sins and entrenchment after rolling back my os to xp. I seem to be having graphical/ui issues with the game now, where i didn't before.

 

On the main menu, the background looks normal, but the box with the menu disappears at random, leaving me with just the text.

 

Any Ideas?
