The egg came before the chicken. It was confirmed recently in the jolly old English news. NOT THE AMERICAN NEWS!!

Also, for all your Firefly fanatics, I haz nearly finished a map of the Verse.

Sweet, can't wait to play it.  Your first map of it is what led me to DS.  I'm pretty sure they all hate you now that I've made that public knowledge.  ;P

I like Firefly.

Btw, those ships sound like they could be fun to bring to the forefront. If they balance out, we could have something.

I've posted some maps in the Lore posts.... Here they are in picture form.

Eulica System

Vertra System

EDIT: Sorry, forgot the wormhole link....

Outstanding.  You've even remembered to put the stars in the correct positions.  ;P  I like the scouting post too.

About Eulica, you've got two wormholes in there that don't look like they connect.  Are there plans to connect them elsewhere?  If not, I'd like to see if in the lore we can get at least one to go to Daros even though it's not in the same constellation.  There are two wormholes in that system I connected just for the sake of connecting them, but according to the lore Alpha_Snipe has stated for them, they don't connect to each other they go elsewhere and I don't recall him ever stating where if he even knows.

He said the wormholes traverse the system, so I assume they connect.

And I do remember Alpha saying that he had a wormhole which connected to a deep space point near Kyrene, but not within a system.

Wormhole link fixed, thanks!

I will release the map once I've posted the rest of the lore.  It will be a huge map for the Trinity Constellation.

On the Firefly map, I've finished naming and positioning the stars and planets. Now I'm setting the Planet Development levels, orbital structures and ships.

New Map! the core of it can be expanded somewhat for more players. 2v2/FFA currently. Second Map isnt ready yet, I didnt invest enough time into it yet. Its a bit more complicated.

It blows, man!

No, it's actually a pretty good 2v2 map. Go one way and it's a race to control a few key planets in an area that looks like a bitch to hold. Go the other and you have little defense and tons of pirates. Starbases would do well against those though, especially as Vasari (for their minelayers).

is there a program for making maps for the DS mod sins diplomacy or a patch/update/mod for galaxy forge ?

Kinda... DS comes with an extras folder with a modified GalaxyForge that includes the new planets and updated icons. The current mod does not have it as we're still tweaking things until the Diplomacy Beta comes to its final resting place. If you go to the main thread, I believe a couple of the guys have working versions they can share with you.

I posted this in the main DS thread about a year ago.

http://sites.google.com/site/steelers086/gamefiles/UpdateTest.rar

I posted that with the assumption that most, if not all of the changes I made would be in the next DS release.  However, since I haven't had a chance to sit down and compare things, the best thing to do is use the icons from that, and use the galaxyscenariodef file from the mod.  Then you're all set up and ready to go for sure.

thanks i'll give it a try made quite a few maps with galaxy forge 3 and would like to toy with all the new planets some more and get creative again, since homeworld activity just aint what it used to be may map making talents have not been getting put to the test as much :P

Edit: instead of making a new post right after this one ill add my download link here.

http://www.box.net/shared/n2dme16czl the name of the map is Industrial Core enjoy its more of a 4 vs 4 or 2v2v2v2 or FFA map tho most of the guys i play sins with we team up agaist multi AI or try to beat 1 or 2 vicous AI lol.  but i can try to make some smaller 1v1 and 2v2 kinda maps if any one wants :)

My first map.  Played it through a few times.  Really a fun and challenging map!

Ring Around Derosis:

This distant star is surrounded by a ring of asteroids.  For 4 players, no pirates.  Each player has a strong hold of planets that they can hold and become well established in the start.  Battle it out in the asteroid ring for dominance.

Hey folks. Been a DS player for quite a long time; I made a map, currently called Nalinathrian Borderlands, which is part of a lore set I'll be making... eventually, heh.

This one is pretty simple. Basically, I just made the map with thirty planets to a star, five stars, all of it completely random; even the home planets, though those are weighted. This basically makes it so that the various expeditionary forces that have landed in the system just take what they can get, and go from there.

I hope you all enjoy playing it! I'd love some feedback.

Im Kinda new to this how does one create a DS map? Do you have your own version of galaxy forge?

Yes we have our own version.  Included with the mod is a folder containing all of the files needed to upgrade your standard galaxy forge with all of the options and icons for use with DS.  Outside of that, creating a map is the same.  The standard galaxy forge can create maps to be used with DS, however, they're fairly plain by comparison having only the basic planet types and no real set of items to load up on the planets.  Maps created for DS will most likely not work with other mods.

As a side note, I updated all of the lore maps to be used with Galaxy Forge 4 and Rebellion and passed them along to Carbon to inspect and check for errors before I release them to the public.  All maps prior to this release should be considered for use with Diplomacy and earlier.  It's gonna suck to have to release two sets of maps from here on out if you want everyone to be able to play, but unless the Devs update the Trinity pack to accept GF4 made maps, that's just the reality we're going to have to live with.

This is best played against hard AI's. Otherwise it is just too easy.

Pirate base has a direct line to your rear, which is a military moon. The sooner you can manage to get the research to colonize it, the sooner you can focus on other more important things, like breaking out and pushing past the front door.

There are two phase lane ring networks of deep space zones and space junk. Be careful though, if you go anywhere without at least some military backup, you're going to have a bad time. Neutral star bases are abundant. If you get the luck of the draw, you may even be able to have four (maybe five) star bases in a gravity well. Won't that just be fun for the competition to break through?

There are a few hidden treasure troves here and there, and you must be careful about how you path your fleets or you'll wind up losing them to pirates.

Finally, there are neutral faction planets. They are [mostly] not to be trifled with. If you make an attempt at taking them over early, you're going to have a bad time. In fact, it might be a waste of your time. Some of those factions have left a few surprises for you, or anyone else, should you attempt to take their worlds away. But according to your scouts...there's something else there to. To live is to risk.

I'm still working out a few bugs here and there, but when I get to them I will repost the map.

Hope you enjoy!
