What is that portal door for on the back of the Kol? any ideas?

I thought it would be cool if a marine dropship or other siege ship connected to it.

which door? can you post a pic?

You know?  I never noticed that I have a tendency to notice obscure things like that...  There is a thread I'll be starting once the forum stops bugging every attempt I make at starting a new thread...

Honestly, I haven't the foggiest idea what the heck that thing is.  I'm assuming escape pods, not that Kols ever die, but still...

That's what I asked my girlfriend.

No Rezo, Its on the very back, its between the engines...

well, i can only see the pic of the Kol taken from the rear right hand side and the only thing that could be a door is that big round thing?

Its not shown in the picture...  Its dead between the engines...

Then whats the point of that screen shot~~!!!

There HAS to be an access point somewhere, for Generals or whomever to move between planets or capitol ships, as this would make much more sence then landing the entire ship. It could also be for resuppling, as sending the entire ship for supplies makes as much sence as landing on a planet.

  • it is at the very left lower corner in this pic. :X
Reply #12 Top

Oh the green spot there, probably a fuel/access port leading to the engine or something

There is one however that is smack dab between the engines.  Its yellow/black striped.  Can't miss it..

its a circle... i never really pictured it as a door, its too big or too small respectively to dock with anything else... it could just be a function of some sort of reaction chamber used by the engines... maybe where the warp core is ejected from? =P

i doubt that... the Kol has a big hangar on the starboard side next to the heavy laser battery, so why does it need another port elsewhere? Let alone one located in the drive section...

I'm with rezo...

Looks to me like a cargo bay. It even has a hazard warning lower right and hazard stripes at the top:-

That is what I was talking about...

well for that matter there is a weird protrusion shown in the above pic next to those autocannon batteries, wonder what that is?

as for the door between the engines... either the warning lights/strips etc are for a door used for taking in fuel/supplies, or it is trying to warn you that you are staring up the ass of a colossal great spaceship that is about to incinerate you with its engines =)

looks like a MASSIVE door though, must be for supplies though i cant figure out why they would put it at one of the most dangerous parts of the ship...

You've got a point there! That might be why they have that caution sign. It could also be related to the docking bay itself, possibly being shorter then docks are normally regulated in that faction, which would support the idea of it being an access point for maintenance or refueling.

On another note- I think they're isn't much out of place with having multible doors. Most planes do, I think, and I've also seen it on many fictional space ships. The Great Fox being one example.XD

what were you intending on quoting exactly? it came out funny...

that it did..  But I've got the feeling that it is the primary hatch for something or other...  Probably cargo..  Seeing as how cargo ships probably wouldn't fit in the hangars...

the Akkan has a similar door under the main hangar bay on the side, same size and shape...

still, im wondering why they would put a cargo door right between two big ass furnaces of death and propulsion...

maybe its so that they can load supplies onto it when its being built?

I don't know what went wrong, Rezonator. I tried to quote 18, I think. I just assumed pressing the quote button at the bottom of that message would quote the message itself, not whatever that is.

Now that's an original idea, Volt, but I doubt it, because if it isn't finished yet, it would make sence to just leave a spot to access the ship unfinished. I suppose there could be reasons, though, such as them wanting to seal the air in so building the insides will be easier.

Oh, you mean that portal door?  That's an easy one to answer!  You see when people are in space their, uhm, er, uhm poo-poo has to go somewhere, and so once a week the portal door opens and it is ejected out into space.  You might say that it's a cargo door of sorts; it dumps a load.  Sometimes the warm steaming mass hits the front windshield of another spaceship and then the people in that spaceship say, "Who flung poo?"  "Oh, it was the Marza!"
