Getting started here...

Post Meshing

I'm new to modding THIS game. I prefer to use XSI because i've known how to use it for years (pre and post mod tool user) so i am fully able to get my objects (or ships to be more specific) the shape that i want them, UV mapping can be a pain sometimes but I do know how.  Bus as every game is different, I don't know where to go from there. any help?

Checkout forge tools in the download section. The documentaion folder in it has a tutorial, although the reference files a not up to date. You can make your own however by copying the "Sins of a Solar Empire" folder out of program files, then using one of the bin to text gui tools that have generously put together by "harppo 999999" and "Dekhranic". the links for them can be found on the first couple of pages here in the modding forum.

Hope this helps and welcom to the community.

Okay, if you know how to make models in XSI, then you should be good to go in Sins. There is another step to convert the XSI file to a MESH file so that it can be used in the game, but it is well documented in the already mentioned forge tools. Somewhere in there you may have to set weapon points, hangar points, and ability points, but you can do that in notepad if necissary. Other than that you're new mesh should  be ready for action.
