pirates out of control?

ive been playing a game for a few days with a 2v2 on the huge muti map of soase with the pirates on and its getting to the end of the game and ive lost my allie that was helping keep the pirates off me and him but now the pirates are down to 1 base left but its where they keep coming from and when i went to distroy them there was a few hundred there and i had 3/4 of my fleet go and attack them head on and im the alien race and i was useing the enforcers about 90 of them with a lvl 10 cap the carrier. the pirates managed to wipe out all the enforcers and i just barely got my lvl 10 cap out of the pirate base aliveand its been several attack waves against the pirate but they have all be suicied attack none ever liv e to come back and i cant seem to win could any one recomend a ship type that would be good to distroy the pirates for good because i cant buy the other ai off all the time the one is the econ type other is attacker it seems to be a loseing battle.

Having an AI tank a pirate raid usually ends in two ways:
1. The AI loses all of its planetary structures (and possibly the planet itself to bombing) and the surviving pirate ships return to the nearest base, bolstering their numbers at the base, or
2. The AI destroys every single pirate ship that was in the raid.

It looks like result 1 happened a lot for a few hundred ships to accumulate at the pirate base. As games go on, and pirate raids increase in severity, the proportion of Corsairs (the AI Heavy Cruiser) and Cutthroats increase. I would bet that the pirate base by then would be swarming with Corsairs, Cutthroats, a handful of Reapers (their flak) and the odd Rogue (light frigate) and Pillager (planet bomber).

Corsairs die easily to bombers, Cutthroats have the same armor type as LRFs, so fighters will tear those apart. Simply put, bring carriers and keep the pirate ships off of them with a well-rounded fleet (Subverters with Distortion Field make it easier by shutting down groups of pirates for some time).

Besides, 90 Enforcers?!? That's 1080 supply's worth. If you ran into an AI with bomber-laden carriers, your Enforcers would be converted to scrap fairly quickly.

Try some Subverters with the distortion field. They help a lot. Though you might want to cast that manually as sometimes they will all try to disable one area. If you do try to use lots of Enforcers again, try to have Reintegration researched as well so that they can repair themselves. Also a few Overseers will also help keep your fleet alive.

With Vasari, I would recommend Bombers as Void did. Bring in a hefty group of enforcers to protect the carriers but the bombers should be able to handle most of the destroying. Also, bring in a few lower level caps for lots of free Xp. I'd recommend a Skirantra Carrier because it can field several bombers squads and has a repair cloud ability that can help keep your enforcers and carriers healthy. Also keep your fleet on attack local area only and make the pirates come to you, this way you dont have ships flying all over the place getting picked off, instead they'll be all together taking full advantage of you Cap ships and support cruisers (overseers and subverters) abilities, and be near the edge of the gravity well, making escape quick and easy should you need to retreat. Finally, keep at it, you'll eventually wear them down (and have lots of high level Cap ships if you keep bringing in new lower leveled ones).

Next time bring in a starbase, too. That will help greatly in tanking this lot of rot with frontal shield and armor upgrades plus repair munch-munch.

i won i ended up using a good amount of long range missle ships using the range and damage ablity slowing the turn speed and stoping the ships but i was able to start hitting them before they could get in range with their weapons and  now the pirates are dead and now its time to finsh off the ai

Another option (for single player) is to use a pair TEC Novaliths and destroy the pirate bases from afar. Then the pirates will no longer spawn and you can just bypass them.

well i couldnt do that wrong race any way i was vasari. now this is a little off my old topice but do the ai ever use or even study the ultimate weapons and build them or not never seen the ai with any.

Nope, as of now the AI will never use a superweapon. And repeated Kosutra strikes could have really thined down the pirates for you as well, at least getting rid of the turrets for you.

In long and drawn out matches, the AI may research their superweapon, but regardless, will never build one.

That's something i never quite understood. Nonetheless, it is just one example of why almost no one plays an easy or medium AI unless they have less than a weeks experience (when i say that, I mean that you go to sleep at three in the morning after playing the game, and you start that playing session at about 7:30ish)

i wonder if i was to go easy on the other factions and let them live for say 1 week in game time and see if they would build the ultimate weapons
