Crazy Question -- What Percentage of All Sins Games Ever Played on ICO Have You Played In?

Of all the Sins games ever played on ICO, starting with the retail release of the game, what percentage of those games do you think you played in?  It will be interewsting to read people's reasoning.

Well, seeing as individual people know exactly how many games they've played, this question can be rephrased as "how many games of Sins do you think have been played on ICO?"

If you log on at a reasonable hour, there are at least 10-15 games running, and sometimes as many as 40 if it's a Friday evening at peak hours.  Given an average turn-over rate of a little over an hour, that could mean hundreds of games over the course of a single Friday evening.  Since the game's been out for about two years now, I'd estimate that the total number of games played is a 6 digit figure.

Given that, my total game involvement should be somewhere in the order of a few hundredths of a percent of the total games played.  Maybe even thousandths.

Easy for me. I've never played online.

games played on ICO < 1%, and I reckon the only person with more than 1% is JJ

I was too sleepy to do the math when I posted that, but Darvin has the right approach.  First we need to guestimate how many total games have ever been played on ICO.  (This reminds me of one of those silly high school physics exercises where you're supposed to guestimate how many total bandaids are in your city or something silly like that.)

So, if when 100 people are playing there are 25 games up, and if the average number of players on ICO is 80, then the average number of games at any one time is 20 (0.25 games/player * 80).  If each game takes an average of 2 hours, then there would be 12 gaming sessions * 20 games/session = 240 games per day.  So, if I play an average of 2 games per day, that's 2/240 = 0.83%.

I bet JJ would be over 1%.

End of viperfdl's quote

You still have plenty of time to start and to work your way up to an illustrious 0.01%!

Estimating about 200000 total games played ever, you'd need 2000 games just to hit 1% of total games played.  I'm not sure even JJ has that.  I myself would have less than a tenth of a percent... and to get a measly hundredth of a percent you'd need to play 20 games.

It's easy to say you only need to maintain an "average" of 2 games per day, but I don't think anyone is that consistant.

jj probably has 2000 games played, he has 1400 on his main, 150 on his DT tag and he smurfs all the time and probably has over 500 games played as a smurf.

It wouldnt suprise me if JJ had played more than 1%

Well, I have had the game since a couple weeks after launch, so my estimate of just taking the percentage of games I'd play a day and using that probably works out.

Do you think an average of 80 players online, 20 games going at one time is about accurate? We could figure out the number of days since the game's release and then calculate the total number of games played.

365 + 366 (2008 was a leap year) - 17 days (until Feb 4) = 714 days since release. At 240 games per day * 714 = 171,360 games played on ICO. If you had played 1000 games, you would have played in 0.584% of all games ever played.

I'm guessing that I've done about 1500 games total, so that puts me at 0.875%.

I think JJ would definitely hit the 1% mark. What's kind of scary is that it's quite possible that 10% of all ICO activity can be accounted for by a handful of players, perhaps 15 people.
