Windows 7, SIns won't start

I have installed sins and it worked perfectly fine, but ever since i updated it, it will no longer start up. I read that Sins of a Solar Empire is compatible with Windows 7, i am wondering what was put in the update to cause this problem. I have tried starting sins directly from the .exe's but its still the same problem, i rather not reinstall it, but any suggestions?

it might be an error in the updating procces im running windows 7 ultimate and it runs fine but i think it causes most of the mini dumps in the game so i will be rolling back to vista
