long time player but still a noob on sp and mp

ive been playing the sins of a solar empire non expanded game for about 2 years now and i desided to go 1 on 1 with a unfair. now know im ok some times going up a gainst normal and hard but after starting the unfair game i came to see that i suck worse than i thought i did and i was on a 7 planet system and i was only able to hold the ai off for about 1 hour and 45 mins then they kick my ass. i started off with the sova and 5 frigs and 1 colony i went and capped the near by planet and held that for about 30 mins then i the ai took it over and from then on it was a loseing battle. i was wondering if pleople could tell me what i could do to make my self better at this game and be able to solo a 1 on 1 agaist all of the harder ais and win at least 75 % of the time. now keep in mind this is with out entrechment and the new release

Seven planet system?  I presume you're talking about point blank.

The unfair AI is actually surprisingly easy to beat here.  The key is to be viciously aggressive.  Send a couple of frigates to capture the asteroid next to your homeworld, but your capital ship should be heading straight for the enemy.  The ice planets are traps; ignore them and attack.  You have to win fast on this map or the unfair AI's resource cheat will start to kick in and you'll be in serious trouble.

The easiest way to win this scenario I find is distraction.  Try to get the enemy to follow your capital ship while your frigates make a beeline for the frigate factory.  If you can knock out the frigate factory, you pretty much win right there.  Doesn't matter if he has twice the income you do, he can't spend it and you'll kill his current units.  Just keep your capital ship moving and the enemy will have a hard time catching it (Sova works best here).

In terms of units, it's all about the LRM.  Unless the enemy actually reaches carriers, you have little reason to build anything else.  A repair bay at home is a good idea in case your capital ship gets damaged.  You can then retreat and repair and be back in the action within the minute.

yeah i tryed that the first few time with different caps i would rush it with my cap and what ever fighting ships i have at the time but havent had much luck with it it seems that it can put out ships faster than i can in just 5 mins it had about 21 lights and a battle ship and the lights where over whelming my caps sheilds in just a min or two

If you start off with a Sova you should take it to their homeworld and embargo ASAP. Then run around the grav well and have your bombers take out their structures.

My favorite caps on that map are the Sova (with embargo), Kol (forcefield), and Kortul (power surge). I usually send a LF and a colony frig to the asteroid to start out and get my cap ship to their Homeworld. If pirates are on, I don't build extractors on the asteroid and just use it as a buffer for the pirates. I follow that up with siege frigs, LRFs, or a SB on their homeworld depending on how I feel like playing!

That gets me through unfair pretty reliably. Haven't tried the next difficulty up yet.
