I'm working on some software for a restaurant where their touchscreen 'Dinerware' software runs overtop everything. However, you can alt+tab and get into the browser but typically a keyboard is not connected.
At the moment, when an order comes through the web we have a growl notification with a link that launches the browser so they can see what's been ordered and prepare the dish. At that point you have the Windows startbar on screen so they can go back into Dinerware and type in the order which sends it to the kitchen Monitors. However, when the order's ready you need to be able to go back into the web browser and tab a button which fires an email receipt and 'ready' message to the patron. But at this point the growl notification is no longer on the screen and you can't view the startbar to tap on chrome....
I've contacted the Dinerware company to see if I can get the startbar to run ontop of the dinerware software, or run it in a windowed mode but they refuse to answer me because they say it will 'be a security threat to their users' - yeah right, the fact that you can alt tab and browse the web is no different???
Anyway - if I could get a sort of dock running on top of this dinerware stuff so their employees can tap the chrome icon or hell - even just a widget that runs on top of this damn kiosk software that would be a huge problem solved. Or even force the app to run in a windowed mode (I don't know if it's drawn by directX or not) I'd be willing to pay someone $5.
If anything can be a good solution I'll pay you $5 for answering my question thanks.
