"Administrative Planet"

Only one homeworld makes for a culturally challenged empire...

When you're playing a map and you colonize a planet in a far-away star system, its allegiance is low, and has little hope of getting very high at all.

I think it would be neat, if you could have something called an "Administrative Planet"; that is, something you pay for like "Designate Capital Planet", except you have your normal capital planet and this administrative planet in the far off star system to keep culture levels up in that system.

I agree that would be cool, except I don't think you can make a mod to do that. Just reducing/removing the alligence penalties across the board is the only thing you could do.

Which file do I need to do that?

This should actually be made into a suggestion to the devs.  Wouldn't be that difficult for them to program in, i think.  Just the mechanics to work out.

Like possibly making it's base alliegience 80%.  Not so low it's not worth it, but doesn't make your capitol worthless, and with culture, can reach 90+ with researches.  (At least, i think there are alliegience researches...IDR...

The Gameplay.Constants file in the Gameinfo folder. Find this section.

        planetBaseAllegianceAtDistanceCount 11
        allegiance 1.00
        allegiance 0.90
        allegiance 0.80
        allegiance 0.70
        allegiance 0.55
        allegiance 0.40
        allegiance 0.25
        allegiance 0.25
        allegiance 0.25
        allegiance 0.25
        allegiance 0.25

Where the first allegiance is your homeworld, the second is one is one jump away, the third is two jumps away etc. Change them all to 1.00 for example and every planet will have 100% base allegiance like your homeworld.

Thanks!

Technically, the devs read the forums anyway so it's already here, however, I'd suggest posting this on Deciever's Stat Changes thread for best effect.  If nothing else, people will explain why it can't be done, but that's one i believe will stand out to them since it's all suggestions.

Can I have the link to that? I'm not sure if I'm able to find the right place.

Is it possible to create a new space structure that would increase the alegiance cap?

Not the cap so to say, but if you have entrenchment (or diplomacy) you can make a structure that has an ability to increase the maximum alligence at the particular planet it orbits.

Would it be possible to create a new planet upgrade that adds similar bonuses as the capital planet upgrade, without having a 1 planet limit?

That is, the starbase, no? I hadn't thought of the auxillary government...

That is what I had in mind yes, but there are ways to get around using the actual starbase for this effect. If nothing else, you could make a new "starbase" entity whose only purpose is to be the host for an upgrade that increases max alligence (this could also be made for free) that is created by an ability from constructor frigates. Thus you could use it in almost anyway a structure could be used (though it may prevent you building a regular starbase in that system, not sure how that would work).

what about a new logistics structure based upon the broadcasters, but with the avent loyalty ability from the starbase(should be possible).

another idea is to alter or add a planet type to support TWO starbases( dead easy in a mod).

both methods should be able to work for increasing loyalty at a single planet, but the devs would need to add the sub-capital so that the loyalty spreads past a starjump or wormhole.

Sounds like a new good diplomatic type ship.  Maybe the "Government Dreadnaught".

"This is the dreadnaught, Big Brother.  Be happy...or else!"

I thought it was too, but this effect isn't actually done via ability. It is done via starbase upgrade effect, which I don't think can be transfered out of a starbase. Also the starbase limits per planets aren't specific to a particular starbase, so increasing the limit would allow multiple combat starbases, which may not be desireable either.
