This thread is to post your fantasy/custom map empires. Are you Human, Vasari, Advent? What's your empire called? What's your empire's history? Are you more aggressively/defensively/economically/scientifically oriented? How does your empire handle other empires?
Here's mine!

In 2100, the people of Earth finally consolidated their first global government, the United Nations, unifying their factionalized race. Their pre-existing Lunar and Martian colonies were the new focus. Earth's moon, Luna, was finally upgraded to support a productive population. The UN even recieved tax revenue from the colony, and trade between it and Earth began immediately. Mars was also tended to, and became a thriving "second Earth" and industrial center as terraforming efforts succeeded greatly and millions flocked to find their new homes on the formerly red planet. Population boomed and colonization efforts followed, as Vesta received people from Mars working in its many resource mines. Ceres was also colonized, and served as a penal colony. With trade ports on all settlements, the UN economy was skyrocketing. All eyes were on Venus, and its neighbor (and possessor of the only phase lane to Sol), Mercury. While the whole of the asteroid belt was colonized and received mining installations, a joint research team of Lunar and Terran scientists created new apparatus that would make colonization of Venus possible. However, due to humanity's colonization blitz on the asteroid belt, the economy was struggling to keep up with all the expenses. Fortunately, the hundreds of mining installations gave the UN the boost it needed to go forward with opening Venus to settlers, and they indeed came. Venus became a hub of all kinds of scientific research, and added a welcome boost to UN inter-planetary trade. By this time, the people of Luna and Mars were beginning to feel that they were their own peoples, and demanded a national, instead of colonial, seat in the UN council. Remembering humanity's past, the council readily agreed. The nations of earth were declared provinces under a Terran administration, and Martian, Lunar, Venusian and Roidian seats were assembled. With that handled, the UN turned to declaration of Mercury as a military colony, and immediately set up defenses with great foresight. The council voted 4 to 1 (with Roidians being the dissenters) for the construction of a United Nations Defense Force (UNDF), and construction of the fleet began in Martian shipyards. Meanwhile, Venusian researchers had finally finished their work on colonization of gas giants; a technology warmly welcomed by exobiologists wishing to give closer study to Jupiter's fauna. This pattern of successes would continue for a time...
By 2200, all major bodies of the Sol system were colonized by the UN, even as far as Pluto. Jupiter and Saturn became massive mining and military training grounds. The Jovian moons, Europa, Io, Ganymede, and Callisto, became centers of everything from agrictulture to entertainment. The people of Saturn's single colonized moon, Titan, invented faster-than-light travel.
January 1st, 2201. Humanity is celebrating New Years and the departure of the UNS Deep Blue, a massive exploration and colonization vessel headed for the Alpha Centauri system on a mission to transport settlers to Gaia; an Earth-like planet slightly larger than Earth, with possibly vast natural resources. However, the voyage would be far more interesting than ever imagined.
November 22nd, 2201. Deep Blue arrives at Gaia, and begins scanning the gravity well. Several small, natural sattelites are located. The continents and oceans are beautiful. Suddenly, an anomaly appears on the scanners. An unidentified heat source is located several hundred kilometers from Deep Blue, and closing at a rate of 10km/s. Despite the disbelief of Cpt. Skye of the UN ship, the object is identified as a spacecraft of unknown origin. Much smaller than Deep Blue, and with strange, black, curved features, it circles the ship as Deep Blue's gunners track it. After one lap, it hastily flies to the edge of the gravity well and jumps out towards Procyon.
The sudden discovery of intelligent, alien, and equally space-faring life shocks humanity. Several months later, another scout appears at Sol, then exits, and in the same week, another visits Mercury. Eventually, contact is made. Assured no-fire is the first goal of the UN council, but communication is slow.
Only time will tell how these two powers will coexist... or not.
