Overwhelming Pirates.

Overwhelming Pirates.

I'm having trouble with pirates. I'm relatively new to Sins, and each of the games I have played involved the pirates becoming a kind of superweapon. Their offensive force is powerful enough to demand the attention of my entire fleet, and by the time I build up a decent sized fleet the pirates often have several hundred ships in their primary base.

What is the best way for each race to defeat the massive pirate defense fleet?

2 consecutive Novalith shots solves the problem

He said for each race...I would like to know as well since I'm not playing as the TEC. (I play as the Vasari)

Strange.  I'm able to defend against pirates pretty easily with bomber squadrons and missile frigates.  All types of missiles tear right through the pirate ships.

EDIT: If you can get a Vasari starbase set up in the pirate gravwell (or any starbase really, but Vasari ones build quicker, which helps a lot) you can drop a new cap ship in there when a pirate raid is due and have it level up without having to move around much. Support cruisers may be necessary once the threat level has gotten high enough, but since the Orkulus has Debris Vortex it likely won't need them until the very late game).

What world do you play in? The pirates will rickroll a fully upgraded Orkulus in my games... easily... in a minute or less.

I play with pirates in single player.  I'm working on beating 4/5 vicious locked all against me.  I get hit with almost 3000/4000 supply fleets from multiple fronts.  Most cant even take 1 single vicious.  i liked them before the patch.

I call bullshit on this one.

Maybe with some modded game files - or a specially designed ultimate chokepoint map you do, but not stock Diplomacy.

More likely you're just trying to puff yourself up on the internet and pretend to be a videogame-warrior. That's all fine and well, and I know it's part of youth, but it doesn't contribute to actual balance discussions to make a better game.

I stopped playing diplomacy. It too easy for TEC to win. Just get more credits and pay your semi private army (pirates) to do your bidding.

The key for TEC are Hosikos with the disable ability, out numbering the pirates 2-3 to 1. Then your turrets, star base, and bombers can keep pounding them. The disable ability also prolongs the battle long enough for reinforcements to matter. Oh yea I like to have 2 repair bays whose AOE overlap the starbase. 60 repair (40 from bay + 20 from Hosiko) is hard to overcome by a disoraganized foe.

TEC also excels on the pirate offensive. Nuke them with 2 Novalith shots. Use Remote sensor to place and time the jump to the pirate base grav well. Use many Marzas with missle barrages, and LRMs with cluster bombs.

Many level 6 marzas...right...If you have even 4 above lvl 6 you'll have a fleet so large it won't matter if you attack with only LF support, I've done it.
