Question about the Retail Trinity version

Anyone saw it yet on other stores if so, where? (other than Stardock or Gamestop) Kinda want to avoid ordeirng online if I could.

Hello Everyone,

This is my 2nd 4x/rts game.  4x and rts games just recently piqued my interest so I decided to try them.  First one being Galactic Civilizations II which I'm hooked on at the moment (eventhough it's a 4x game only, it's still so much like Sins.

I'm really excited about this game and I was going to buy the normal version but then I saw Trinity was coming out soon on retail stores so I decided to wait.  The weird thing was, I only saw this version on Stardock's website and Gamestop.  I couldn't find it anywhere else online or on stores online like Bestbuy and Walmart which usually have the normal version of the game. Also, it was supposed to be released yesterday, the 26th but Gamestop still has it on pre-order status.

Which brings me to my next question, Can anyone please confirm that the trinity version comes with the game itself in a disk plus the 2 mini expansion on a separate disk?  The main reason for this is that I'm buying the trinity version mainly because I want to be able to play this game 10-15 years from now so having the 2 mini expansions on a disk would be a life saver.

On the website, the retail box says retail + download.  Does this mean the trinity version comes with the original game only plus just codes to download the 2 mini expansions online? I'm quite confused what it means, that's why I asked the above question to fully confirm.

Because if the trinity box comes with the game itself but you have to download the 2 expansions online instead of having them on a disk, I'd much rather buy the normal version of the game on Bestbuy then get the expansions online.  This way, I could buy the game and the expansion right now so I can play it right away instead of possibly waiting on Monday since stores don't get shipments over the weekends. Plus I got 2 $10 gift cards from Best buy just by participating on surveys on 2 separate occassions.

Edit:  On one of the topic I was reading, it seems if you already bought and downloaded all of the expansions, you can ask stardock to send you the hard disk copy of the expansions for $5.00 plus shipping and handling?  Is this true? 

Also, According to that same topic (by Frogboy), Trinity was already out on the 9th?  According to the date of the topic Frogboy posted entitled " Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity - It's here!".  Was this just the download version or the retail version too or just an announcment?  Sorry, my first time on this board.

If you have bough any steam games before, what you are mainly buying is the CD key rather than the game itself. You then register on Impulse and then you will download it.

I wasn't trying to buy the digital version though especially  if both the game and the 2 expansions comes in disks for the trinity retail version .  Since I want physical copies of them for my collection hehe.  I have never bought any games on steam because of this reason .

While I don't have the Trinity Version, I was under the impression that a hard copy of the expansions were included. However, you will still need to register with impulse to update your games (diplomacy already has one update out). Hopefully someone who knows for sure will be able to answer your question.

I dont know if they are one seperate disk in the Trinity. But...if you buy it digitaly you can make an archive and then put that archive on a CD. So you have a hard copy.


Also there is Anywhere Impulse, which allows you to download a current version of what ever game you  have tied to your account and then install it on your computer...even one not with internet. All you need is the Impulse Client on any computer you plan to install the archive too.

If you buy the retail version of Trinity, it will come on one disc.  There's only one serial number, but it gets you the base game, and both expansions.  Initially (mainly for pre-ordering and beta access), there was a Trinity 'bundle', which gave you all three as separate registrations with separate serial numbers.  Now when you buy Trinity, it's one registration with one serial number.  It will show up as a single game, 'Trinity', in Impulse, but the content is exactly the same as if you had the base game and expansions separately.  They're compatible in multiplayer, as well.

If you wanted to play only up to Entrenchment (content-wise), it does give you the ability to choose which 'chapter' to play from, and the same goes for the base game.

If you go digital only, Impulse Anywhere is a good place to get installation files if you want to have a physical copy of your games (alltogether, I think it's just over 1GB), though you can also use the 'Download & Archive' feature in Impulse to download the data file.  You would just need to also download the installer for Impulse and burn that to the disc as well for you digital copy.

Thank you so much.  That cleared alot of things up.  I'll try and see if I can find it in stores tomorrow.  Hopefully, they'll have it already with their new shipments.  I've been really itching to play this game.

Is the retail version release being delayed for 1 week?  Gamestop website  is now saying it ships on March 08.  1 week from now.  Guess I'll have to wait another week then.

Got Trinity Retail but after loading from DVD all I get is the option to download Trinity from Startgate, just the same problem I had with Napoleon TW on Steam, looks like all you get retail is a Key and a useless DVD....

Rekab1: I'm not sure what Startgate is...  Do you mean Stardock?  (There may be an auto-translate problem there...)  You should be able to install the game from the DVD itself.  If it doesn't work, it's possible you got a bad burn, and some retailers will allow you to swap those out for a working disc (though not all).
