Weapons as Abilitys?

Last Night i had an idea for a Sins Mod. Normal Weapons as Abillitys.

 

My Idea:

A Capital got 3 Weapons normaly. Now hte Ship has thr 3 Weapons too, but no Weapon Hardpoints and some crazy variables, so they never can't fire. (For example Weaponerange 0.0000001.)

Now, we build a lot of ability Hardpoints and create new abilitys which had the normalWeaponfire. So the Ship must use Abilities to fire the normal Weapons.

If this work, you can customize you capitel. You deside which Weapon the Ship had and how strong there are. And they use antimatter as ammunition (each shot cost anitmatter) so you must micromanagement your Capitals, activate and deactivate Weaponsystems and must ensure, that you hat many Ships which can restore Antimatter.

 

What do you think about that, is this possible? Is the Ai able to handel this?

Yeah, it could work (I've set up something similar for the pirates to keep them from getting OP for certain things I like to give them) as for the AI handling them shouldn't be too difficult for them to use just set all to autocast, though it will leave the AI at an even bigger diadvantage because it mircos like crap.

I believe there's a mod that already implemented this kind of idea a while ago.  Unfortunately, I can't remember which one it was.  ... Maybe "Dawn of Victory"?  I dunno.

So to answer your question: it's definitely possible.

Thanks it works. But another Problem, the Ship only shoot only from 1 Weapon. Is there a way that the abolitys will shot from each Weaponpoint like normal Weapons?

All abilities spawn from the same point, if I remember correctly.  Also, you need to leave one of the weapons with a decent range or the ships won't fight properly.

Not all abilities have only 1 point. MissleBarrage, PhaseMissileSwarm are examples of this. I have moded the gauss blast ability, which normally only fires from 1 point, and made it so it fires from 4.
