Welcome to Soase Jgianettino, first suggestion is tutorial, when you are in the menu go into single player and you will see tutorial.  Also the best place to find answers and any kind of help is right here.

Again welcome and happy hunting.

Advice to getting the hang of the game

Try a small map maybe 3-4 player.  Place 1 easy AI on the opposite team and the others on your team.  You can use the friendly AI to keep the enemy AI off your tail.

if you are looking at this forum through impulse, you need to note there are expanded forums available directly on the Sins web site.

Colonize the roid---up population.  Then build mines.

Keep trying.  This game rocks

need to build either a colonizer captial ship (the first one is free) or a simple colonizer frigate to colonize other planets

You can also play a game without AI players if you want to just practice the building aspect of the game. Turn of the pirates in the game options and you'll never be attacked.

Priceless

As it was already said you must colonize the planets.  When I am TEC I dont like to waste an ability on colonize when building the AKKAN.  Its simple to build a ....whateever its called colony frigate:), have it wait at your controlled planet and jump it over when its safe.  Then send it back home.  Construction ships cannot be built, cannot move to another planet.  When you upgrade your planet development you can get additional construction ships.

NOTE: ALL NOOBS RESEARCH your planet development to bring in more credits on each individual planet.

When you click on the planet its the green button, you can put your cursor over the 6 buttons and it will tell you what they do.  YOU DONT have to mvoe your capitol with each new planet.

All my home planet is fully upgraded, it has things like 1 of 2 everything is 2 of 2 or 3 of 3 ect, there is no more to do at that planet based on the game correct? time to move to the next, I will try a colony friget tonight and send to astriod, see if that works thanks

Each planet/ roid is different, but once its fully upgraded thats it.  the Most important early stage part is the underdevlopment.  As you dont need to fill tact/log right away anyways.  Planet health and exploration are important however get your defenses up maybe click planet health up once.

Ok Thanks, also is there a link or place were I can get all the information on the levels on whats required for everything for upgrades, for the list of items, like were it says 4 plateforms required for XXX or 3 lab required for XXX, for ships and other items?

The position of a research subject in the research tree already denotes how many labs are needed to research it (and in the case of ships and structures, maintain your ability to build them).

You could also simply mouse over each research subject and the infocard at the bottom right will tell you what is needed to begin research (number of labs, any prerequisite research, credit/metal/crystal required).

If you want a hard copy it would be the tech tree poster that came with your copy of SOASE.  Otherwise the cursor over whatever is the best way to figure that out.

NO I know that already, but is there a book that shows all this information, I have the manual and the chart, but is there something with more detal, like a main book or manual you can buy, something like for SACRED or on of those type of games, also should I get the two exspnsion packs for this game, do they update any information on the first game if I do?

AFAIK, there is no print material that contains any more details than the manual.

The expansion packs add new content to the game as well as modifications to some of the existing elements of the game (typically ship abilities). Entrenchment beefs up the tactical structures from Vanilla Sins as well as introducing mines and the Starbase. Diplomacy (which requires Entrenchment) is fairly self-explanatory: it expands on the diplomatic side of the game, allowing you to issue other players missions, demand resources, bribe the Pirates, and form pacts with other players.

A large portion of the Sins community (at least on this forum) have Entrenchment/Diplomacy, so most strategies discussed here and the mods available pertain to one or the other, not to mention more players on ICO for Ent/Diplo.
