Ive been trying to for a while but i cant seem to make a mod that puts the Phase Gate tech into the TEC tech tree if anyone could help that would be good or if you know how to mod the Phase Scout tech so it only works if the scoutship or capital ship if it can be moved is in the system your going to just so it adds a bit of a challange

Well, if you wanted to add the phase stabalizer structure itself, you'll need to add the building file to the PlayerTech.entity file. However, you may have to get rid of something else as I think the tactical structures menu is filled.

An easier way might be to add the AbilityPhaseGateModule to a different TEC structure (say the planetary shield generator, as the thing is considered pretty useless past in Entrenchment/Diplomacy anyways, and it still requires 5 labs). May not make much literal sense, but it is probably the easiest way to do it.

Yes, though you may have to change the ability slightly if it starts acting a little wierd, I'm not sure off the top of my head though. Note the Vasari already have a starbase module that creates a phase gate, but sadly it is only temporary.

I know it's a couple of months late...but it's actually REALLY easy to "re-mod" the Phase Scouts mod to work with at the very least the patch of the game that comes with the Trinity purchase (which is 1.2 somethin another I believe.

Basically you go to the same folder you'd do the mods at...after getting Phase Scouts from the mods area of the website (don't have the link on hand atm)...

What I did was make a new folder named "PhaseGate" and copied the "GameInfo" folder into it from the installation folder...so that I had the latest entity etc files.

Then I went into the PhaseScout folder, first copied the string folder into the PhaseGate folder, and then went into the GameInfo folder...changed the view to Details, and sorted by "Modified"...and took all the late April and beyond files and copied them into the "PhaseGate" folder's GameInfo folder, replacing any files it has to replace.

When I went to enable it after firing up the game after this, it enabled successfully and when I started a game I was able to move about with ease after I had researched it (1st tier, mind you :P), activated it (it has a blank icon btw, just as a fyi...but make sure you turn on the auto-enable thing on the ability before you send the scouts out.

After that I just set them on explore and now they're pretty much activating new "phase gates" for me to go straight to.  It still takes a bit of travel time, but at least they don't have to phase out, run through a planet's well, phase back into the lane, etc.

Again...I know it's two months late, but I just thought I'd share that...for anyone else who might be able to use that to make other things work in the future. ;)

EDIT: Just as a side note, I'm sure it'd work for some other mods...but the really complex ones like 7 Deadly Sins or whatever it's called...it may not work cause of all the changes done to it, lol.

caudyr, these instructions work for sins and entrenchment, BUT will fail for diplomacy due to the MAJOR changes in the playerRACE.entity files in diplomacy, and for entrenchment & diplomacy with the manifests, you could also skip the copy the existing gameinfo files step as he manifest does give this effect. I also ad updated phase scouts for my own use and added it to my megasb mod.
