ok, if you are running the original sins you follow this path to save maps:

c drive>program files (or program filesx#)>stardock games> sins of a solar empire> galaxy

This will put the map along with the other maps of it,s same player size

if running entrentchment you got a whole new problem.

First set up your computer to show hidden files, then use this path

(user name fille) >Appdata (this folder will not show up if you do not have files unhidden)>local>ironclad games> sins of a solar empire> Galaxy forge

this will putthe map in the galaxy forge tab.

please add rep if i helped any

have a great time playing soase!

dasodaxfire, AND empyre87, the CORRECT infor for galaxyforge generated maps is
assuming you have sins 1.19/entrenchment 1.05/diplomacy 1.01,  the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge.

for sins 1.15/entrenchment 1.01 and earlier, the correct location IS the program files \galaxy folder, and you also NEED to edit the entrenchment's galaxy.manifest to include the maps and also the total count of maps

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

NOTE 2 the 'user name' in the above paths is your WINDOWS login user name, eg Administrator

also the galaxy forge maps in the local apps galaxyforge folder only show up in the galaxy forge tab of map types in sins 1.16+/entrenchment 1.02+

if the map IS a galaxy forge and giving the instant win/loss screen then MAKE sure that EACH player has a home planet and is not for a particular mod that has extra home planets and stars

and if a map you want to play was released before 25th feb 2009 then you will also need the sins map updater from here

the answer is rely more on the devs/stardock staff, but also do a LOT more by hand when modding sins.

C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

only for vanilla sins, for all the expansions they look in their galaxy.manifest to see the list for the first three tabs of map types ie small, medium and large and each expansion then looks in its OWN galaxy folder, then the sins galaxy folder to see if the map is there if not all sorts of fun things like minidump & CTD, the games ALL look at the userspace mapdesigner folder for the map designer maps AND the user space GalaxyForge folder for the galaxy forge sourced maps which are on their own tabs called 'mapdesigner' and 'galaxy forge'.

that is why I advise ALL users to place the galaxyforge maps in the userspace galaxyforge folder.

also unless the map was created with a modified galaxyforge the same map can be used with vanilla sins, entrenchment AND diplomacy with any mods, but if the map was created with a modified galaxyforge it should only be used with the mod that galaxyforge was modified FOR

i have sins 1.00 will that mater? for any thang is that why i cant get it to work?

is that vanilla sins 1.00 or is it sins trinity?

if vanilla sins 1.00 then yes it is the correct location, BUT you also need the first version of galaxy forge, as the version 3 one as it writes maps for the later versions(sins 1.15+, entrenchment 1.00+ and diplomacy 1.00+) and the maps ARE NOT BACKWARD/FORWARD  COMPATIBLE which is why i wrote my map updater which CAN update maps from earlier versions to the latest version, BUT can not downgrade maps.

and sins is EXTREMELY PARTICULAR about the exact syntax in the files it uses ie one letter in the WrOnG case and welcome to minidump HELL.

I would suggest registering your copy and installing impulse and updating your sins to the current version (1.19), and if for some reason you can not register the copy you have hen i suggest simply buying the trinity pack then you will be able to play with any and all the mods for sins, entrenchment AND diplomacy.

These should be the proper location for the updated version depending on OS.
