This a bug or am I just stupid?

I havent played SOSE for awhile and just realized it was still installed on my computer so I started playing it again.

 

From what I remember I thought the construction ships (the ones that make the crystal and metal extractors and such) could travel between planets or other bodies such as asteroids. However each time I try to make the construction ships move across the jump lane to another planet or such it wont go.. nothing happens.

 

Am I missing something or is this a bug?

I can confirm what the Dread Pirate Lord has said. They never have been able to leave the grav well. You gotta colonize the planet first then your constructor for said planet will show up.

Might have been thinking of another game or combining elements of multiple games together in faded memories.

You do get more construction ships if you upgrade your Logistics Capacity and Tactical Capacity in the Planetary Improvements.
