Settings in Diplomacy

Diplomacy not saving settings.

Is anyone else running into a problem wherein you run diplomacy, set all your options such as video res, textures, sound etc and it not saving... so EVERY time you load up diplomacy you have to change your resolution, texture settings, etc?

Because I am.

Its annoying. Original Sins keeps the settings the way I have selected them, what is wrong with diplomacy?

Have you tried

1. Running the file in administrator mode (or, if you already run it as an administrator, as a normal user), then switching the settings?

2. Changing the settings in original Sins or Entrenchment, making sure the settings saved, then starting Diplomacy?

Have you contacted [email protected]?

Seems you might have a bad download or something corrupted during download. It should restet your settings the first time but once you set them up again it should save it.

The settings in original Sins has saved. I have tried loading original sins and then switching in-game to diplomacy. same results: default settings.

I haven't played entrenchment. I assumed that like Civ4, or The Sims, if you have it installed, the gameplay options will appear when you play diplomacy. And since i intend on playing Diplomacy, I'd rather try and get the settings in that game sorted.

As for the bad download, I'll give that a try. I assumed that if something had gone awry during the dload process it would result in a much larger error.

Ok, redloaded and reinstalled and it didn't repair. Still having the same blasted problem.

It's possible something is wrong with the settings file/folder.  In Vista/7 it's located here:

C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting

I don't have an XP machine at home, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in Local Settings\Ironclad Games or something like that (I'll look it up when I get to work tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, anyone know where it is, exactly?).  The settings file is diplomacy.user.setting, so try deleting it.  Next time you run the game it should recreate it with defaults, but it may start saving your changes.  If you can't delete it, or it asks for authorization, you may be having permission issues, which would explain the settings not being saved.

I was unable to locate that file. I'm running a vista machine and couldn't even locate the appdata directory.

1) Press ALT to show a toolbar near the top

2) Click Tools

3) Click Folder Options

4) Click the View tab

5) Click the dot next to "Show hidden file, folder and drives"

6) Click Apply and Ok, and you should now be able to see the AppData folder
