Hi there! I was thinking on making Battlefleet Gothic mod for vanilla Sins, but I'm a noob and I don't know where to start.
If you don't know what Battlefleet Gothic is, it's an "specialist game" based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It's about space battles, instead of the typical ground battles of W40k. I wanted to make a mod because there are about 8-10 races (4 of them can be 1 because they are all human fleets), lots of interesting backgorund, data sheets for the ships wich include a scheme of them (useful for modelling) and their weaponry and abilities-special rules, and more.
I've seen myfist0's modelling tutorials, I have the 3D program he/she recommends, and I've downloaded all the data sheets. I prefered to use the original Sins ships and structures for modelling at the right scale and for using their AI and effects. To sum up, I want to create all that races, with their ships, structures, tech trees, FX and effects, for playing with them in vanilla Sins, making them as close to W40k as possible. After that, it would be nice to mix this mod with other great mods like Sins Plus, by Uzii, if their creators give their permission.
I would be really pleased if you could give me some advice and help. I've never mod, but if more people is interested to make this, it would be nice to make a team, so each person could make the best he/she can (someone is better at modelling, other at AI, other at FX, other at compatibility...etc).
Thank you very much. I'll give you some links to Battlefleet Gothic and W40k stuff:
If the links don't work, go to http://www.games-workshop.com, select your country, and go to Warhammer 40,000 or Specialist Games (if you go here, select Battlefleet Gothic). THe following link is to a Youtube video, wich one of the cutscenes of Dawn of War 2 (one of the strategy games for PC based on W40k). In the vid, there are Imperium ships (human) fighting Tyranid organic ships (for example, the octopus-like ship they chase).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate on writting them here. Have a nice day!
