"Phong Shader Not Found In Material.."

Hey guys,

I' ve been trying to import a simple model into Sins for a few days and can't get past this road block. I have honestly done everything I could think of.  Upon exporting into .mesh format I get this error message from Convertxsi:

Phong Shader Not Found In Material: Default.lib.scene_Materia

This is really weird to me. Everything seems to be connected properly to my untrained eye. I'm uploading a screen shot of what I have. When I load the .mesh file in game there is no ship (surprise surprise)

 :P)

IF you guy could help I'd really really appreciate it.

Also, it tells me that the ship radius is -1, is this normal?

I tried deleting the extra Material that I had ("not used") but when I do that I get this error message in addition to the first one:

"Valid material not found for polygon list: Defaultlib.material"

:(

It's like the phong that I have in there isn't legitimate or something.

Open up the explorer to bring up the scene root and press the little plus sign in a box alongside "DefaultLib_Scene_Material" to open up all the scene roots for that material. If all your nulls for weapons, abilities and everything are not there you most likely have deleted the wrong material.

If that is Ok, try disconnecting everything in the render tree delete all unconnected nodes and then rebuild your render tree.

Aside from that, if the above suggestions don't work it could be that your Phong has layers. I have never had layers on any of my models. I didn't know they were possible. Perhaps they are only available with SI 2011. and CovertDataXSI can't recognise them.

Also, I don't think there should be anything under you "cylinder" mesh node in the scene root

Hope that helps.

Thanks again Suer Zero. Turns out it was my fault. Hehehe. I was working in SoftImage 2011 and not the MOD TOOL. Apparently I didn't get the signigfagance of the term "MOD TOOL" in the name. Man oh man that was 2 days wasted. Now I'm going to do some mesh file swapping and see if she comes up in-game.

So for anyone else who has 2011 heed my warning: only the modtool's file system is compatible with convert.exe

That shouldn't be the problem. I know ManSh00ter, who is by far one of the most talented Sins modders, uses the Pro version of Softimage, not the Mod Tool.
