Is Diplomacy the last add on i thought there was supposed to be one for planets and one for more ships?
There were going to be three micro-expansions, but Ironclad has stated that they are only going to make two. Diplomacy is the LAST MICRO-EXPANSION.
We are currently hoping for a new, large EXPANSION, or a sequel. Hopefully the former, as all sequels lately have been below standards.
you mean all aaa sequels have been below standards...
i expect great things for sins sequel... when it arrives in late 2014 or so...
Cant wait for hints as to what the next installment of sins will be.
This is the end, this is the end, my friend.
I think they are just done with Sins. Supposedly they're working on a land-based game now and we haven't heard a peep out of them since the last patch was released a couple months ago. Supposedly Diplomacy is not the end of Sins, but plans can change. Perhaps one day they will produce a Sins-2, but don't hold your breath.
Instead, I suggest just enjoying Sins for what it is. If you get bored, consider playing mods to spice things up. Of course, if you are brave and confident you could also log onto Ironclad Online and try it against real human opponents. (Most people who play it against human opponents and who take the time needed to learn the game on that level never go back to playing against the AI.) Playing against humans will force you to learn new strategies and to delve deeper into the game. Now is a great time to come online because the $4 Sins sale brought a lot of new players to vanilla Sins.
Well I will be holding my breath for a long time.
DONT CRUSH MY DREAMS!!!!!
I DO get on ICO.
I am staraptor237.
-edit-
though not as much as I should, most of my time on sins is for modding, and I fear of being a disappointment to those online, because of my sad skills. I also only have Entrenchment, so that is a problem. I am aware that it is only $10.
Where did you hear that they are working on a land-based RTS?
Land based RTS's suck. There is no third dimension, thats the excitement of Sins.
Think Demigod. That didnt sell well.................
In all fairness, Sins is a 3D game played in 2D. If theory you could move in 3D, but pretty much this was only used for exploits.
I don't know where DS got the "land-based RTS" idea, as I have yet to hear any indication of IC's current plans. You got some developer quote or hint you can link us to?
As to the original topic, it seems pretty obvious to me that Sins 1 is over. There may be a couple patches still coming, but if there was another expansion pack I'd imagine we'd have heard something by now (plus Trinity was a pretty definitive bundle)

Here I just took a pic for the pdf I had.
OK
Thanks
Karma for you
Technically it never said it would be their next title... or that it would be on land, but I'm probably getting my hopes up. Good article though.
Pity about diplomacy being last one
One can assume since they are a small company they will be working on 1 title mostly. And if its not space they it must be land based. Not saying it will only be 'land' units.
There really not a whole lot they can add miniexpansion wise. About the only thing I can think of is maybe increasing the types of planets. But there are several good mods out there that already to that.
We may get a large expansion with lots of game changing items. Personally I was looking forward to seeing how they were gonna impliment the item drop Blair mentioned in an old Podcast.
i would like to believe that there's another one comin after diplomacy based n the fact there's currently 5 un used sound files sitting duck all these times.first we got the tec3.ogg as the background diplomacy sitting from the vanilla next we got battle 3 and 4 .ogg that sounds very sinister as if there's a real menace coming out from nowhere wonder if its planned for background for the next sequel where the 4th race coming?
Do individuals more knowledgeable about the industry than I also think that this is the end of patches in general?
there have been a couple of statements by the devs that say they are not done yet so there is still hope
Sins is great but it isn't as great as homeworld was, shame no news of homeworld 3 almost like hoping for Duke Nukem Forever.
forgot to add this:
hope that they might go 64 bit if anything, 2g ram so far kills large map late games.
You can use the third dimension, you just have to dig in the hotkeys to find out how to use it. Also I think they were just referring to recent RTS sequels like Supreme Commander 2 and C&C 4.
Quote from Kyro at the first of the June
Kick back and be patient guys. Then if an update comes out of nowhere, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
There are still things we'd like to do with Sins before it's done, but it's a very busy time right now for both us and IC.
i suppose you mean 'Kryo'
Even better info! Thanks Ryat.
Being a small company their development work must be aimed at maximizing revenue from game sales. The market for a new micro expansion for Sins is fairly small and getting smaller all the time. So ... a new game would seem the best idea.
The article does suggest a land game or something other than a space game. I remember reading somewhere that way back at the very beginning of the StarCraft design process they discussed a space game. But at the time the technology was just not there. So after an iteration or two, they wound up with StarCraft ... which in game play has remarkably little to do with stars; or crafts for that matter! Perversely enough, SC was wildly successful; while Sins never managed to become the national religion of an Asian nation.
I do wish Ironclad well. They are very talented people and I am sure they will produce something interesting.
