Stuttering Sins?

This is the oddest problem in a game ever. For some reason, after about 30 min, the game starts to jerk. All video resolutions, all details, everything. nothing in the background. Every few seconds the game just -stops- functioning for about a half second, then starts right back up. Sound doesn't stop, just video/input. Ideas?

System:

AMD Phenom II X4 956 Processor (3.40 ghz)

4 Gigs of Ram

Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+

All drivers up to date, recently defragged. Windows 7.

er, I mean I tried on all resolutions and levels of detail with nothing in the background.

you overran the 2 GB limit inherent in Sins, happens all the time, use the mod above to help (warning, any pretty effects will be nullified with this mod)

actually its not that bad to be honest, but any upgrade effects like Bailknights or Mansh00ters pretty mods are kinda nullified

If your making your own mod you might find a happy medium merging some effects with TOP.

The music's better too Ryat....and..the pirates...*eyes bug out and start to shudder* th-the pirates *falls over in the fetal position sucking thumb* Starbases with full weapons and armor upgrades with the full amount of defensive platforms around them, the horror, the horror...it was all gone so suddenly  ;.;. Anyway yeah the Optimization Mod fixes alot of stuff for ALL versions of the game, Sooooooo handy. Though the skyboxes get super iffy when you run DS and TOP together xD half green and half red was funny, interesting, but funny mostly.

 

But seriously my comp is alot worse than yours and with TOP I can run about 300 fighter squads along with all the thigns housing them in one sun lol and not jerk super heavily ^^

I've had something similar happen when running the game at 4x or more when the save game kicks in.

just annoying, heh. Spent the entire time using Bailknights/Manshooters, install Diplomacy, and now I gotta do this.

No, I'm sorry, this is unplayable. the effects look absolutely HORRIBLE. IT's literally impossible to tell what's shooting what, with this mod. NO. There has to be a way to allocate more RAM to a program.

If I coudl keep engine effects and weapon effects somehow, I'd be okay. But. NO. I'm not playing a game where the engine effect looks like an afterthought, and weapons look like they're a joke.

I wanted to touch base on this subject because it affects me and my friends when they come over and play lan sessions.  I’m at the point where Sins is going to get put up on the self until either this is fixed or Sins 2 comes out with a much better thought out engine in mind for the x64 bit OS.  We usually take on 3 AI on the hardest settings for Entrenchment, just this last Friday two human players. We got about 3 hours into our game and the really bad pauses and stuttering started up.  This was not the 2 gig limits, I was at 1.5 gigs and my friends were at 1.2 gigs.  This was not a ram issue or the game hitting the max ram limit.  This is the engine itself that the problem. 

There has to be a bad memory leak within the game that the devs have not yet found or figured out.  We have played over 30 games and each time it’s the same story about 3 hours in the bad pauses start.

 

We have quit the game and loaded up the save game, and about 10 to 15 mins in the pauses start again.   I’m having a feeling that the save game engine is somehow contributing to this problem, there seems to be some correlation at times when the game auto saves the game will slow down or pauses during saves.  Maybe I’m wrong but I still think there is issues in the engine that are memory leaks.

I love the game but the constant pausing is just killing this game for us and its gotten to the point where some of the guys just don’t want to play it anymore because we can’t ever finish a game.  I hope IC is reading alt hese post because they really need to isolate this bug and kill it.

@Darksxx: If you are sure it is not a RAM issue, take some screenshots of the game's RAM use and stuttering and make your own post. Much better chance the Devs will respond then.

there is a memory leak, Major Stress found some (well he thinks he might have found some) when going through the files to develop the Sins Optimization Project, I can attest to it making the game run tons better and hope the devs make a point of examining his work

Ryat, What files are the ones that may be causing those issues? Id like to know because I have a mod of my own that ill need to look into those files and fix.
