This thread is basically my outline of what I thought about this year's E3, who I though the "winner" was, and what games I'm looking forward to. I'll just preface this by saying that I'm sure there are plenty of people who will disagree with but, but I thought I would share anyway

So, going somewhat in order, I'll start with Microsoft. I wasn't very impressed, although they do know how to put on a show. Kinect, while certianly more technically advanced that the Wii, I think is doomed to failure. No price was annonced at the show, but Gamestop "leaked" it at being $150, which I think is way too much. It's obviously targeted at casual gamers, and when they have the option of $150 for the Kinect, plus at least $200 for the Xbox360, plus more expensive games, vs the $200 Wii and cheaper games, it doesn't seem like a contest to me. It was just overall a weird showing for Kinect, and I bet the videos/animated gifs will be circling the internet for at least the next couple months, probably longer.

If the Star Wars game ever sees the light of day, it could be pretty awesome, but I don't have high hopes for it.

The Xbox360 Slim gets style points, and I'm pretty impressed that they managed to keep it a secret until the day of release (and I'm jealous of the audience ) but other than that it's not all that great. Built in wi-fi is nice, but that's something that should have been on the 360 from the beginning. Hell, my first generation DS that's now five years old has built in wi-fi, only cost $150, and never gave me a RROD. It's not so much a new feature as it is catching up to everyone else.

The only 360 game I'm very excited about is Halo: Reach. Yeah, go ahead, call me a fanboy, but I like the Halo games (except Halo Wars. I could tell that would suck without even watching a video). I'm really glad to see that Firefight is back, because I loved that about ODST. And space combat just looks awesome.

Nintendo, I think, is the undisputed "winner" of E3 2010. The 3DS... just wow. Going into E3, I was just as skeptical as everyone else. 3D without glasses, plus being at least as powerful as the Wii (some rumors said it would be better than the 360/PS3)? Yeah right, like they could pull that off. I thought 3D would be a lame gimick. I wear glasses all the time, and I hate how all the movies are going to 3D. I was thinking that if the 3DS could pull off glasses-less 3D, that would be awesome, but it seemed at the time to be a pipedream. Then after Nintendo's conference, the "hand-on" reports starting to come in, and holy crap, it actually worked, and it looked good! Apparently the 3D effect is just as good as the ones in the movies, which is just stunning (I wish I could've been there). And not only that, but the regular graphics are a huge improvement over the old DS.

And then they announced the line up for the 3DS, and it jumped to the top of my most wanted list. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, Starfox 64 remake, Mario Kart, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, and the list goes on. I mean, just wow.

But the win didn't stop with the 3DS. The Wii lineup is pretty awesome too. Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (granted, the demonstration wasn't too great, but apparently that was because of a lot of IR interference, IDK if that's true or not), Donkey Kong Country Returns, Metriod: Other M (Ok, we already knew a bit about that one), Kirby's Epic Yarn (some people don't like the style, I think it's cool), and to cap it off, GoldenEye 007. So much awesomeness out of Nintedo this year.

And then there was Sony. Let me just say I don't own any Sony systems, never have, and never intend to, but I think they were the biggest fail of the three. Their conference was pretty much nothing but taking jabs at the other two companies ("Everyone knows real boxers actually have arms." "We know that real games still need buttons, unlike some people." Yeah, it's paraphased, but they basically said that). All the while they were showing off how they're ripping off the other two. Move = Expensive Wii. They showed off a golf game that was Wii Sports: Golf with a womanizer Tiger Woods. Sorcery looks like a Harry Potter movie.

But probably the stupidest thing they did was the segment about 3D. "We're the only company doing 3D." If their presentation was before Nintendo's, I could almost accept them saying that. But instead, everyone had just come from seeing the 3DS for themselves in all its glasses-less glory. Sony wants you to buy a 3D TV (not cheap), 3D glasses (not cheap), and a PS3 (also not cheap), hours after Nintendo shows everyone 3D that is portable, no glasses, and will probably be under $250, and they say they're the only ones doing it. WTF Sony?

And sorry, but I don't think a smart-mouthed little kid is going to save the PSP. It already got dominated by the DS, and now with the 3DS coming out...

The only "good" thing that came out of Sony's conference was Portal 2 (how much did they have to pay Valve for that?) Too bad it was only exciting for PS3 owners. Valve's big surprise? Portal 2 on PS3... um, yay? That was a huge letdown to everyone else, like you know, everyone with a PC or 360 who thought the "surprise" would be something good.

As for the other stuff, The Old Republic looks very good. It's the first MMO I've ever been kind of excited for. And speaking of MMO's, the Battlestar Galactica one, despite being browser-based, also looks fairly decent, but not nearly as good as TOR.
