Some questions and comments

First let me say that as I use my soulspark i.d. as my ICO i.d. as well, that this in no way is an accusation of players whom I have played against that may recognize me.  I am curios however - Does the max credits/resources cheat as described in other websites work online or will ICO boot them off? I ask because I DO NOT intend to use this cheat EVER not even in single player. My issue is that - while I admit my econ/research skills aren't the greatest - it seems to me that while I'm trying to create an adequate fleet w/ an adequate econ to back it, I get overrun by a player who has a very large fleet with full diversity. Let me state that I do leave open the possibility that I just need more experience. But if the cheat code does exist in online play, is there a way to stop it? THAT is what would ruin it for me - not smurfing or stacked teams(I like that feeling I get knowing that I am still able to muster the courage it takes to face improbable odds win or lose). That and abuse/being booted for a poor perfomance or being suspected of smurfing.

I have read many posts and I gather from them that many community members have boiled down to die hard fans w/ noobs (such as myself) trickling in. I have also noticed - through the posts that many of the Big Dogs are willing to help the pups become part of the community and don't have elitist attitude. I respect that.

Let me also say that I'm sure many newer players probably read posts and want to join in but stop because they feel that they will make a fool of themselves by trying to run with an inside joke or exposing  their lack of knowledge for the topic. It's kind of like me - A caucasion educated only in English - moving to N. Korea and setting up a store that focuses on books about American philosophy. Or, less drastically, being the awkward one at the party. In reality this is no ones fault just a nuance of human social interaction. So I say to my fellow noobs that it is on YOU to ask questions put yourself out there and ACTIVELY become a part of the community. Giving in to fear and doubt never gets the girl!

SOaSE  IS- in spite of it's flaws- a great game and I believe that much like checkers or chess it will be around for a long time as long as long as there are people willing to play and novices willing to learn.

Are you certain that the guy(s) who ran over you were cheating?  Have you watched the replay of the game to see how he was able to accomplish all of that?  Does it look like he cheated or just expanded quickly and developed a good economy?  If you really think that someone has cheated, please post a replay for others to check out.

As I stated above IN NO WAY is this an accusation. I also stated that I am open to the (big) possibility that it's my skill level - not a cheater.  While I admit the thought crossed my mind, I also realize that I can prove NOTHING. I am not crying "You cheated" and do not intend to be a troll. I am asking out of curiosity (since the thought did cross my mind) if there are any KNOWN instances of this cheat being used in ICO play. And if there are KNOWN instances what must be done to stop it?

I have yet to start recording my matches but will do so from now on.

ALL GAMES AUTO RECORD.   Goto single player => Watch => change savetype to Auto recorded multiplayer games..........

Thanx.  I should have RTFM (Read The F...ing Manual) a little more closely.

O.K.  I went back and did like you said and checked replays.  Got my answer. Even if someone could and did cheat - which they didn't - that person would be found out and their moniker would only be good for 1 play and god help 'em if other people recognized them smurfing.

There were times when my development was on-par with theirs and I could have totally owned them if I did better scouting and risked a slightly more aggressive stance.

Thanks for your patience and thanks for not being like "Stupid noob go away!". This confirms my thoughts about the community and it's willingness to survive by helping new members.

It's been a learning experience.

Glad you were able to watch the replay.  I didn't mean to be an ass or anything with my comments.  I'm just curious because I've never heard of any instances of cheating on ICO (and if someone does use a cheat I'd like to watch the replay).

It's O.K. I didn't take it that way. You simply asked analitical questions, then provided me with a way to figure it out for myself. That is a sign of someone who knows good teaching method.
