Have anyone noticed this?

Subliminal Ships

Vasari. I've just realized some of the Vasari ships resemble creatures. Have anyone noticed this as well? Take the Squirantra, isn't that a squid viewed from top? Take the subverter, isn't that a shrimp? Or the Ravastra? Shrimp-like too. What about the Vulkoras? Even the panel icon looks like a vulture. The Enforcer looks almost like some sort of crab-spider-bug crossbred and the nick-name for the Jarrascul  is sometimes "space-whale". Funny. Take the Serevun... for me it's just a grasshopper. The Karrastra is more like a scorpion and the Jarun is the little roach. Has anyone noticed this as well?

Now for Advent. Lately I've been playing with the free camera-rotating option and discovered some (if not all) of the structures and ships for the Advent are surprisingly upside down! If you look closely at the  Rapture (shown below), which is the best example, and turn it upside down you end up looking at a completely different ship. And it feels right. Look at some of the Advent capitals and tell me if they don't look quite right. The same is for their orbital buildings, with the most resembling noticed on Temple of Hostility/Communion/Harmony.

Well, they are in space, so there really is no concept of "up" and "down" to begin with ;-P

I think it is pretty common for people to find inspiration from other things.  One time while I was watching Star Trek, I noticed that the Borg ships looked like boxes.

i've always thought the rapture resembles a manta ray with the whole wing shape

i'm not really seeing anything in the halcyon and progenitor though

What about the Vasari units?

The Radiance looks like it is upside down too.

It is probably one of the reason why I only like playing TEC, the ships actually looks "right"

how do the tec ships look "right"? cruise ships, aircraft carriers, and trucks in space?? they don't look like spaceships at all, most of them would fit in better on the sea. tbh i would play more as tec if the ships didn't look so atrocious, i wish someone would make a mod to make them look different

The best looking ship in game, and I mean this sincerely is the Advent tradeship. It would look even better, if it flew backwards.

Akkan battlecruiser looks like a mall with that dome on the top. Sova carrier looks like an oil tanker. Progenitor looks like a backwards radiance. Radiance battlecruiser looks like a pear, or a leaf. Kodiaks look like APC's with bradley turrets on top of them. Vasari trade ships look like centipedes. Enforcers look like scarabs from above. Advent trade port looks like a metal dish teared in half.

Yeah, the ships seem to have several influences

I am a Vasari player, and I have noticed a few of the animal-ship similarities, but ships are ships and that's all I really see.

Completely agree.

I think the Progenitor looks like one of the wings of something huge when tipped on its side

End of ice27828's quote

So if the TEC are right. Does that make the Vasari left? Then that leaves the Advent... Up maybe? I've lost myself somewhere in here:S
