[Map Making] Any way to make more than one pirate base attack a player?

Can only get one at a time.

I've placed several planets in my map, 3 of them pirate bases. But when I play this map only one base attacks at a time and I'd like all of them to send a fleet each. Is that possible? I've been reading over tutorials on making maps and can't seem to find an answer to this.

No. Pirates only ever attack one player with one fleet at a time. The pirate attack force just arrives at the closest base (I think) and makes its way from there. Having multiple pirate bases in a single star system just makes it that much harder to completely eliminate the pirates and as a nasty choke point.

Ok, thanks for the reply I'll remove the pirate bases so there's only 2 and move them closer to my other planets.

Yeah, the only real map making use pirate bases have are as barriers. I once made a map where all of the players homeworlds were two jumps away, but that other jump was always a pirate base. It prevented early rushing but allowed some interesting gameplay later on once players got enough strength to go through them.

That wouldn't stop an advanced player from rushing.  You can use a wild-goose to get through a pirate base unscathed.  Send in a scout first and have it run across the gravity well.  All the pirates will follow it.  Your fleet follows shortly afterwards, and while the pirates are distracted chasing the swift scout, you rush through the gravity well to the other side.  If you do it right, you get through the pirate base and your scout just has a few scratches to show for it.  It does take planning and prep, though, and you'll be cut off from reinforcements (which is pretty major this early in the game).  Still, won't prevent a rush outright.

If anything, it's a little more dangerous because a player won't be anticipating such a brazen move from his opponent.

End of Darvin3's quote

I should add I added carriers/hangars and phase jump inhibitors to the mix as well, I didn't just use the default template. But that is a different galaxy forge topic entirely.
