Credit Draining in lumps- help

Hi

Just picked up sins again after a long time away and am really enjoying it.

However, I am playing a single AI opponent, going reasonably well but my credits keep draining in a 500 credit then a 600 credit hit, every 10 or 15 seconds. As such, I am constantly broke and can't progress. I can't see what is draining my credit, and I've never seen this issue before. All my planets are upgraded and I am at a loss. I thought it may be something to do with bounty, but it's not.

I have the Entrenchments add-on.

Hope someone can help, this is frustrating! Thanks :)

What race are you playing and who are you playing against?

I am Advent, the AI is TEC.

When I quit the game and look at the graphs, "Credits lost to other sources" is incredibly high, none of the other graphs correlate to my credit loss. Also, the AI's "Credit gained from other sources" does't match my losses, so I don't think it's draining me somehow

I am assuming late game? Most likely their Pervausive Economy or something to that effect.

No, it's quite early, playing about an hour or so. I have edited my above comment with some extra information

It's weird and not to mention depressing, I can't build anything. My metal and crystal are absolutely fine

You might have upgraded your fleet to much for what your empire can sustain. Check the fleet Current Upkeep % level.

Hover over your income and make sure no planets are showing red negative income.

The last thing I can think about is the Pirate Cutthroat's Plunder ability - it steals credits from a target ship (or rather, the empire that ship belongs to).

the TEC may be raiding with a Sova Carrier and its embargo ability

Are you not gaining credit income or do you literally see the credits flying out of the bank?

Thanks for the replies, sorry I've been unable to get back sooner.

To answer your suggestions- I am not engaging pirates or the enemy anywhere, so they aren't draining me. My planets are all developed and in the green.

My credits tick up to about 1000, then suddenly BOOM 500 credits, then a couple of seconds, BOOM, down to 50 or so. Rinse/ repeat.

Is it a bug maybe?

Actually, I have seen a similar issue before that was pretty much the same as the OP. Perhaps not so many credits... maybe 50-100... but yes, I literally saw them flying out of the bank at a periodic rate. Wasn't late game, there were no under developed planets and besides, fleet upkeep and under development simply lowers the income rate and doesn't take credits out.

Oh it isn't starbase construction either. Would have noticed over a 1000 credits disappearing. I have only seen this once or twice tho, probably 98% of my games don't see this.

Fleet upkeep? No, my fleet is small enough to not have needed any upgrades at all. I literally have 1 flagship and some frigs.

Have you purchased population upgrades for your planet?  When first colonized, planets actually cost you money, and you need to upgrade them to actually turn a profit.

If you have a large queue of mine deployment, you can cause something like this.  Mines cost money for Advent to deploy, so if you told a whole bunch to build somewhere, as soon as you get enough money, (about 600 credits?  trying to remember), they will deploy and suck it out of the bank in a chunk.  This will keep happening until all the queued mine deployments complete.

In regards to the other posters, Pervasive Economy doesn't suck away other people's credits, it just boosts your own.  Sova carriers don't steal it in chunks either, they steal from your income rate, which could possibly put you negative.  If you are negative from this or undeveloped planets, you tend to see it drain kinda steadily, not in big chunks.

I can't really think of what else it would be....

Under-development and fleet upkeep only lower credit income. Neither 'take' credits from the bank.

I have had this issue and I have been playing for months so I know its not planets in the red, also I've seen this happen as Vasari which do not use mines the same way as Advent.

It must be a rare bug that doesn't come up very often. In the one or two games I have seen this happen, the effect only lasted 5-10 mins and then everything was normal again. Im not a programmer or a modder so I would have no idea why this would happen tho.

End of quote

Upkeep just lowers income, but underdevelopment does actually drain your bank account.  Very nasty, always make sure to upgrade newly acquired planets asap.

Only if you are in the negative tho right? Im pretty sure if you are still in the green you wont see any credits disappear.

i think ive experienced this before as tec

Well, thanks all for your help, I'll put it down to 'one of those things', keep playing and see what happens. Unless it stops soon, I'll have to quit the game as it's crippling me.

You could try posting the replay after you're done.

I've had this happen before a couple of times...my only guess is there is a flaw in the programming somewhere...I have had this happen both as TEC and Advent (don't play Vasari)...every time I've had this happen, it has been in a LAN MP game (with different enemy faction compositions)...in some cases the entire enemy team was AI (a human comp-stomp)...

I have looked at all the game mechanics and have yet to find an explanation....you will have resources, and then BOOM they simply disappear...frequently and in small increments...

Some of your high ranking officers have their hands in the cookie jar. Find 'em, torture 'em and hang them from the flag pole.  >:(

I just had this happen last night.  I was about to upgrade my starbase with a trade port upgrade, but I clicked a moment too soon and didn't have the cash.  Despite this, the cost was still deducted and the trade port upgrade didn't happen.
