Single player "post game"

I play TEC. For the most part I've been playing a random medium map vs 3 hard random AI. I've been working on trying to speed up my game kind of getting myself ready to noob in on PvP. What I'm finding is that I'll have one enemy down and the other two logistically beaten in about an hour and a half. I can get that faster if I have a good map by using a Sova rush or LC spam.

Then what happens is that it takes me another 1.5 to 2 hours to get my win, and this is the part I need help with I think. Often by this time I have 2 or three Marza's for missile barrage and popping planets, an Akkan, and maybe a Sova or two. With that I have a fairly balanced host of frigates, including 10-20 of the anti-structure guys.

I've found that by this stage I can ignore most structures in enemy territory though I make sure to kill down their culture for the most part. I'll pretty much cut through to their home world, and just kinda work my way around the circle till everything is dead. Meanwhile I'll have a defensive fleet to keep my core worlds clear.

So my specific question would be:

Is there a good TEC fleet makeup that is known for speeding this "mop up" along? Or perhaps a good technique for something like splitting the offensive fleet into two groups - one that beats the grav well into submission and a second that just cleans up the leftovers and colonizes the planet?

Also, what would be good time targets to work for towards having the 1st adjacent enemy dead and the game finished. I don't feel so bad about the 1.5 hours, but the next couple hours are a little anti-climactic.

Thanks in advance.

Siege frigates and LRFs are good for mop up. A few Flaks are good to deal with any stray hangars.

Generally for mopping up I go with bombers.  They kill starbases and structures with ease, and their great speed means they can zip around the gravity well cleaning up enemies where-ever they may be.  Won't deal with flaks effectively, and large numbers of LF can be a problem, but if you're in cleanup mode you shouldn't run into a significant amount of either.

The clean-up is about being methodical.  At this point, the AI has no hope of winning and is just stalling.  In multiplayer, you won't encounter this.  People surrender in hopeless scenarios (though expect them to keep resisting if their allies have a shot of winning).

That'd work quite well.  If you significantly outnumber the enemy, then there's no special techniques required to do this.  Just split up and go on a two-pronged offensive.  Now, if you DO come across a force that threatens you, always make sure to have defensive emplacements to fall back to so you can regroup.

Multi-players will not hang around for mop up. Once its clear they are beat they call gg.

My torpedoes and siege come last and leave last. each are set to there own fleet. A colony frig is set to follow the siegers. Up ahead my carrier fleet is turned and ready to jump back to defend them while they escape if I am flanked. My main task force will kill fleet, factorys and hangars and move on.

I see... well as I think about it it seems what I'm actually missing is the bombers. I've found that while actually fighting fleets that they are expensive to lose and the stupid AI just suicides on my marza bundle (which I know is a handicap that won't work in MP. Its just too cool to watch the enemy fleet reduced to rubble in seconds for me to resist.)

I also was just reminded about colonizing the enemy's neighbor planets early game (reading in another thread) and I think I definitely need to work that one in as well.

Ok off to try some more! Thanks for the replies!

This is basically my comp-stomping strategy.  Bee-line for the nearest enemy at the start of the game, get a forward staging post operational, then beat them to a pulp while they're pinned down.  You basically don't need defenses for the rest of your empire because the enemy is preoccupied by your offensive.
