Dear support team the second,
since the forum swallowed my first post leaving me with a 408 too many redirects message from my browser. I'll try again to give some feedback on what i would call the worst customer experience ever.
1. Having to sign up at all to get a patch is a bad joke.
2. The signup page is bugged because
- The Serial-Key-Validation is case senstitve while the Serial-Key itself contains only upper case characters. Since the page is done in asp I suggest to take a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.string.aspx there is a method called "ToUpper()" in that standard class and it can be used to provide a much better customer experience.
- It just doesn't feel right, that the form forgets all inserted data when telling me that my chosen name is already in use.
3. The update page which i got after finally being able to sign up https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/update contains a dead link and renders the whole signup process pretty much useless.

The file you are looking for is not available.
4.Becase this update page at least mentions that patches may be available via something called impulse i downloaded that, installed it, signed up there too and then finally got it to update Sins. I am not sure whether it should scare or annoy me that it knew i had sins installed and offered to download the patch on its own (ever heard about that new and foreign concept called "Privacy" ?). And now that it seems to be finished it tells me that "A reboot is required to finish the installation"
You've got to be F$%#ING kidding me! And it isn't funny!
PS.
Now that i rebooted there are 2 menu entries titled "String not found" and they lead to some page where i am supposed to pay for some kind of addon ?!?
whatever... meanwhile i think its kind of hilarious that i have to register again to play the game online since it doesn't accept my credentials..
