Movable starbases

Hi all,

Has anyone tried to make the starbases for TEC and Advent to be able to move?  I have compared the .entity files from the phase starbase and used its values for maxAccelarationLinear, maxAccelaarationStrafe, and maxSpeedLinear for the TEC and Adven starbase.  I also changed the autoattack from "none" to "gravity well"  The starbases will move but they wont move on their own. I have to tell them where to move.  I also got a minidump error when I went to the "tactics managment icon in the game."  Any ideas how to make this work???

moveable starbases CAN NOT build frigates & cruisers( for TEC) and the BRB, and I think that some of the abilities for the advent could conflict with the movement/tactics management buttons, and in my experience the conflicts usually take the form of minidumps.

Agreed, you would have to remove some upgrades in order to make it work.

For the TEC starbase(Argonev) You would have to remove the upgrade that allows construction, and several values in the mesh that link to that.

For the Advent starbase(Transcencia) You might have to remove the Meteoric Control Abilities. I believe that the Transcencia is fine the way it is for being able to move around. Though if it still minidumps, check the meshpoints on the Vasari Starbase(Orkulus) and see which ones might correspond to movement, and add them into the other starbases' meshes.(Weapon points obviously do not have anything to do with movement, neither do Ability points.)

This may be one of those buyer beware sorta things. But this file works for making a moveable TECH starbase(Argonev) in my environment (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5790092/Temp/StarBaseTech.entity).

I tested this with a fully upgraded starbase going through multiple attacks and building frigates during the attacks. The starbase will also auto-engage without any issues. I had docking booms and the BRB and used them both without any mini-dumps.

I've tested this in Entrenchment and Diplomacy. I've done the more thorough testing in Diplomacy, (i.e. I did not do a full upgrade path to docking booms and BRB in entrenchment).

Also, note, there aren't any required mesh points dealing with movement.
