starbase troubles

i need help. my starbases turn up completly black, i cant make out ANY details of them, its just the outline, and the inside is black. also, they dont do anything. they dont have any weapons to shoot, but they can release fleets, etc, they just cant use there average cannons,etc. please help

What version do you have and is it all three races or just one in particular?

If you have any mods installed, it would be advisable to deactivate them.

Like the version number of the game. When you start Sins, Entrenchment, or Diplomacy, there is a bit of white text at the bottom right corner that says "Sins/Entrenchment/Diplomacy 1.xxx".
