Better Turrets

Flak turrets.  These would have a high damage anti fighter/moderate anti bomber attack. These would be specifically armored against bombers.

Cheap defenses that actually defend against all those inevitable bomber squadrons that come in.  These would not be accessible to the Vasari, as the Vasari already have a very good antifighter defense building, as well as a moving starbase of death that is only safely killed by bombers.

The TEC already have flak turrets on top of their hangars. Only the Advent don't have something like this, but when you consider that they get better hangars (three squads instead of two) they have a better advantage in actual strike craft for defense.

Don't Advent hangers cost 6 Tactical slots and not 4, though?  They're still getting 1 squadron per 2 tactical slots.

Yep, the Advent Hangar costs 6 slots. On the flip side, Shield Bestowal grants not only shields to it and other structures, but also mitigation.

Minor point - there is an Advent research subject that allows them to add 5/10 tactical slots to all planets, so the Advent can cram in as many hangars as the other factions can once this is researched. This allows for up to 45 tactical slots on non-asteroid planets (before bonuses are considered).

The most extreme case for available tactical slots is 35+10+8+4 = 57 slots (non-asteroid planet, maxed Augmented Defense Grid research, Weapons Test Facility bonus, Vasari pact)

Indeed; the Advent hanger is actually inferior because of this since you need a tactical upgrade to place them, which is simply exorbitant if you just want a single hanger and nothing else.  Once you have their tactical slot bonus researched this problem is solved, but that's a 4-civic tech so it's outside of your comfort-zone as Advent.

Shield Bestowal is the real selling point here.  Knocking out repair platforms becomes much harder with this in play.
