stong star base

how would i make star base's very strong something  that is truly formidable ? something that i would also be able to add the distant stars mod i use now ? i just find that they are too cheep and far to week i want something that would take a super fleet to kill any ideas would be awesome ( yes i am very new to modding )

You have been fully upgrading your starbases right? Full weapons and hull upgrades are certainly not cheap, and they should repel decent sized fleets. Have you looked at the entity files for starbases or mines? That's where all the data you are looking for is.

also on the OP of the Distant Stars thread you can find the text version of the mod ready for download at the very bottom which would allow you to directly put the changes in with ease

just make a copy so if you mess anything up you can go back easily

ok thanks guys and yes i have been fully upgrading my starbase's  but i find when imake 800 cred a min and 300 min and crystal it is cheep

Yeah, the DS economics is turned up just a tad. Makes for massive fleets smashing into each other quite a blast.

a fairly simple way to increase the starbase strength is to have MORE upgrade levels and allow for more upgrades to be made,n the limits for upgrade levels PER upgrade is 9 so 8 actual upgrades in each upgrade with 9 different upgrade slots, I have found in my mega sb mod (that I alo adapted to ds for personal use only I got to the point where ONE sb fully upgraded with thirty upgrades ie 8 weapons, hull/shield, 6 hanger, 3 trade could melt a 100000 credit pirate raid with ds & powerfull pirates in diplomacy witin approx 2 minutes, but I also had boosted the weapon range as well

when I looked at joining the moddb, they seemed to want me to jump through too many hoops for what I wanted to do at the time, so did not, BUT I have already have released several versions of my megasb with the download from my dropbox, ie

my megasB,(btw can stack with other mods UNLESS they add races OR change starbases as it is just the original entity files for starbases edited to add levels & more upgrades able to be built, and also adds two sb's to each colony gw)(entrenchment version, but just replace the entity.manifest for diplomacy)

mega sb with phase scouts (all of the megasb with the ancient phase scout added, but for entrenchment only)

megasb with phase scouts & dynamic movement and I have permission from manshooter to include the dynamic movement mod(entrenchment only)

and all three ARE 1.051 compatable

how do i join ur mega sb mod to distant stars when i try running ur mod on its own i get a mini dump , and when i just try adding the files to distant stars i get a mini dump

rickmon, what were you doing when you dumped?

I hope you were not trying the second starbase type as it is a cause of dumps, BUT the ai does not use them.

regards to the stacking of mods, what I did was copy the ds manifests to the root of a copy of the megasb and stack it above the ds, and if you do the same with the powerful pirates it also works

when i got the mini dump i just tried running the mod i didnt even get to play it .. and ok ill try stacking it like that
